You need to press F2 and go into the bios (carefully) Using the left and right arrow keys in conjunction with the ESC key to navigate Look for something which says boot order. You have pxe or network boot enabled. You need to set the first boot device to the cd rom the second to the hard drive and possibly the third if there is one to floppy drive (fdd) Be very care here cos you can seriously mess up your system. You have to read the whole screen in the bios as it will give you clues what to do to change values and how to get out of it when you have finished. Dont change anything other than the boot order. If you think you have messed it up, select no when it asks you to save when you come out of it. You can go back in again and make the changes afresh if you think you changed something you shouldnt have. You laptop is looking for a network connection to boot from in order to get its operating system, I am guessing you dont have one so it shouldnt need to request it. This is of course assuming you have an operating system already installed. If you dont, take it back as whoever supplied it to you havnt finished the job.

Per the internet site, it depends upon the model of laptop. Here are some examples:

Enter the BIOS configuration, pressing F2, F10, F1 or DEL at boot. At the BIOS screen, go through the pages, there will be an option to set everything to optimized defaults, save and reboot.

How do I find the model number of my Packard Bell laptop??

Good Day

As per Packard Bell http://www.packardbell.co.uk/pb/en/GB/content/online-support
The model number is located on the bottom of the netbook on a label above the serial number. Alternatively, the model number will be located in the Basic Input Output System (BIOS) setup pages, which can be entered by pressing the F2 key when powering on the system. In the BIOS, it will be under the Information tab as Product Name, or use the arrow keys to navigate to Product Information, and press Enter. The product name will be listed in the page that shows.

Hope this helps
Regards
Shaun

Easynote will not go past packard bell screen

You may need BIOS update. Check your CMOS time at bios page.
If time is wrong, set it up and try again. If this is solved the problem, change the CMOS battery.

WHERE DO I FIND PASSWORDS FOR BOOT AND SETUP

here the reply i left for another problem of the same sort just with an IBM. the process for undooing this is similar for most laptops so just apply Packard Bell instead of IBM

the only solutions i know are both non easy fixes. one is to strip down the laptop and find the bios battery if it has one. then pull it, leave it 30 seconds and put it back in, rebuild and all will be well. the other is to get hold of IBM and fax them proof of ID and ownership (the usualy request although i havent done it with IBM yet) and they have an unlocking set of passwords which is written into the BIOS.

You could search the internet for Bios Master passwords. Other than that, just pull the ac power, main battery and cmos battery and let the system drain.

If its a Windows password, then respond back for more instructions.

Packard Bell Easynote M5255 - Will not boot up

option f2, go into bios setup and see if the hard drive is listed or detected. Auto detect hard drive save and exit. System will reboot if the same error occurs then the hard drive master boot record is probably corrupt or the hard drive has totally failed.
