So neither of the ROM drives are available, or just the one? Your jumper settings may or may not be correct; in some systems, even having the IDE cable placement and jumper settings correct may still leave errors such as this.

Basically if you dink around with the settings (for example just try changing the Slave and Master) it will work (provided there's nothing wrong with the drives or IDE cable). I'd also suggest setting both to Cable Select as some systems (such as Sony VAIOs) oftentimes will only allow optical drives to function with that setting.

If neither ROMS are being displayed and you have one set as master and other slave then the problem can be easily solved by changing the settings to cable select that way its easier for windows to identify the drives.
