"Hard-disk Problem"... I'd just like to confirm once more that smacking the player on its right hand side while turning it on works.I had to smack it fairly hard though so don't be afraid!! I didn't try smacking it till I checked out the threads above so thanks everyone I'm a happy man again!! :)

When attached to my PC via USB, my Sony A729 will not connect, it only charges. Anyone had a similar experience and knows a fix?

Hey, Try uninstalling the device driver while plugged in. Then re-attach there device.
To uninstall the driver, Right click on My Computer->Properties->Device Manager.
Find your device and uninstall the driver.

Tip

My computer does not recognize the MP3 player

If you are using an USB extension or an USB external hub, get rid of it.

Try plugging the MP3 to a different USB port.

Try unplugging AC charger, and removing laptop batter for ten minutes, sometimes this can fix problems caused by accumulation of electrostatic charges on USB controller.

If that does not solve the problem, test a different USB device on the same laptop, and test the MP3 on a different computer. Either one may be faulty.

If the problem is the laptop you may fix it by removing and reinstalling USB root hub on hardware devices in Control Panel.

My computer says found new hardware but when it tryies to install it says there was a problem does a search and finds nothing. So i cant update the firm ware,i already formated the zen but it did nothing...

When you experience next making connection:
Connecting the device to the computer Wizard found new hardware pops up.
Only this time the Windows update searching for software will not work on automatic routine:
ending up with "Cannot Install this Hardware".

Solution:
Manual performing the wizard, setting the device to USB connection type:
1. Can Windows connect to Windows Update to search for software ?
Select "No, not this time".
[Next]
2. If your hardware came with an installation CD, or floppy disk, insert it now.
Select "Install from a list or specific location(Advanced)."
[Next]
3. Please use your search and installations options.
Select "Don't search I will choose the driver to install."
[Next]
4. Select the device driver you want to install for this hardware.
Select "USB Mass Storage Device."
[Finish]

Note: when using MSC mode always safely remove hardware, the players' removable disk. The icon in the right corner of the task bar.

Once the device can be reached in MSC mode it should be ready to install new firmware on the player:
1. Backup data on the player to the computer when not on the PC already.
2. Reinstall / update firmware from computer to the player: after this the device will have all the maps for writing data and it can be approached in MTP mode again, using application software like Windows Media Player 11.

San Disk 260 MP3 player doesn't syn anymore

I found a suggestion on your site to turn off the MP3 player and disconnect from port - then while holding down the volume button I reconnected it and continued to hold down the button for about 50 seconds. It may not be what fixed it but the computer recognized the player as new hardware and I was able to go to the Media Player and syn - the next time I booted up my computer the little "found new hardware" icon appeared - and kept appearing until the noise drove me crazy - but I restarted the computer and it went away. Thanks!

ONLY THING IM RCA H115A

I had the same problem and I tried many things to fix it. Mine started working again when I took an old speaker and turned it face down, then put the mp3 player face up on the magnet (face of MP3 away from magnet). I checked back a few days later and it was working with all (or maybe most I haven't really checked) of the files intact. I thought it might wipe out all of my files but figured that if I could get it to work again it would be worth it. This might be extreme but I tried running it out of battery which didn't work and pushing different buttons in different sequences which didn't work either. I tried pressing buttons simultaneously and for extended periods looking for some sort of reinitialization process but nothing worked....it just kept coming up with the corrupted message. I think it got corrupted when I removed it from my PC without doing the "SAFELY REMOVE HARDWARE" process on my PC. I won't be doing that again. I am really glad I didn't throw the thing away!

Safely Removie Hardware

What operating system are you running. If it's XP with SP2 or Vista, then it should be ok, but if it's earlier then you need to update your drivers. Go to the Apple website and go through the 5 r's. It normally sorts most things out.

Frozen - Mpio HD-300 MP3 Player Problem

Sounds like the player can't see it's hard drive, not much you can do if the drive is dead. If it's under warranty then have it fixed.

My NW-E107 stopped working. assistance?

Hardware issue (needs replacement) most likely, but:
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
