JUST HOLD THE NAP BUTTON UNTIL IT NO LONGER IS BLINKING NAP, dont return it, its very good at waking you up in the morning, and is basically a good alarm clock, it just has a different way of turning nap off.

Honestly holding down the nap button for a few seconds 5-7 WILL deactivate the nap setting. The nap indicator light will blink about 5 times while you continue to press it down and afterwards the nap will disappear completely. Have a peaceful night GE clock owners. It's a good clock.

These guys who keep saying to just hold in the nap button til it turns off are stupid. THE PROBLEM IS... THAT IT DOES NOT TURN OFF WHEN YOU HOLD THE BUTTON IN!!!! I have been having this same issue with mine for a couple years now until we finally got tired of the MAX FRUSTRATION it causes by spending $150 on a new ipod dock alarm and, alas, no more issues! Unfortunately, as I recently rented a place in the city, I had to drag this thing along as my alarm clock and am gong crazy again, which is what led me to ths forum. Also, I am from NS and last spring I stayed at a hotel in NB which had the exact same alarm with the EXACT same issue. We spent 5 minute trying to hold it down to turn it off, then another 5 staying up late waiting for it to go off on it's own. This is a seemingly small issue, but it's really huge as it leads to max (and mass, seemingly) frustration, at a time when one is winding down for what is supposed to be a peaceful sleep. This issue needs to be solved and an actual solution, if it exists, needs to be posted, or I want GE to issue me a new alarm that doesn't do this. No matter that we've had it for a couple years, it's not a new problem, and it seems it's not isolated either, owing to several forums like this on the internet, let alone the proof from the NB hotel alarm experience.
Also, I'm sorry that this isn't a solution and is therefore misleading.

Very annoying. This happened with my clock, I returned it to Wal-mart, and it happened with the replacement. Solution is to stop buying GE products where all they care about is cost cutting and using China in lieu of quality.

This is the most stupid clock radio ever.

Turning off the Nap = just hold nap for like 3-5 seconds
Turning off the alarm = Hit cancel and then the mode flashes for 3 seconds.. touch mode and then you'll see there is 'no mode' selected showing the alarm is now off. Hit mode to turn it back for the next normal alarm scheduled time.

RP3721A How to turn off NAP button

I've seen some comments that you can't turn NAP off once it's set.

You can turn off NAP by holding down the NAP button for a few seconds again once the clock has exited NAP set mode and is showing the time. When you first hit the button, it'll go back into NAP set mode (probably showing 0:20) but after a few seconds, you'll go back to the time with NAP off.

Trick is, the button's a little quirky, and you have to hold down just the edge closest to the back of the clock. The middle of the button or any other edge just throws you back into NAP time adjust but never turns it off. I have no idea why--must be a design or manufacturing flaw of some kind.

For the snooze, hold down the snooze button (should display the length of time for snoozing) and hit the time/tune buttons up or down to increase or decrease the snooze time.

For the nap time, press nap and the nap indicator should start blinking. Again, hit the time/tune buttons up or down to increase or decrease the name time in 10 minute increments up to 2 hours.

Turning off "NAP" feature

You have to "double-click" the "NAP" button. And on the second "click," hold it down until the "NAP" light goes off.
That worked for me three times in a row, at least.

Press the Cancel button. While the wake mode LED is blinking (either alarm or radio) press the Wake Mode button. The wake mode LED should now be off. To turn off the Nap function before the alarm sounds, press and hold the Nap button for 3-5 seconds. The Nap LED should stop blinking and be off.

Resetting clock

Press the SET button until you cycle through the alarms and the Colons on the time start to flash. use the right and left arrows from the CD buttons to adjust time; After time is set; press the SET button. Be careful to not fat finger and hit the CD button when pressing the SET buttons. That will turn on the AWFUL NAP timer. That's another headache.

. Stop the Nap alarm Press NAP to start NAP flashing. Press and hold NAP to cancel the nap setting. If this does not work; try again. It seems to take me a time or 2 to get it to work.

Snooze alarm

Like everyone else here I have accidentally hit the NAP button and couldn't turn it off. This morning at 2am I accidentally hit it with my husband in bed. I decided one and for all to guide this out. By flashlight and my cell phone i Googled a solution. I came across many, none of which worked. I resorted to trying methods that were posted for other models of this brand of clocks. The solution that I found that worked was to hold down the back part of the NAP button until the seat the time displayed and the nap light off. By back part of the button I mean hold down the tiny section closest to the rear of the clock. I got this solution from instructions for model RP3721A clock. It took me 17 minutes. That's just 3 minutes before the alarm would have gone off.
