I can not access the MMP8565 from MS vista or Windows XP with Windows Media Player 11. An icon with MMP8565 appears under My computer but I can not see the music folders/files or update them. Also I can not synch under Windows Media Player 11. I can see the files and folders in old PC running Windows XP and old version of Windows Media Player 9.

I would like to be able to use the MMP8565 with my new PC. What do I need to do?

Have same problem. I've had for 3 months then when connecting, it shows "internal storage" click on that and it shows an unknown file. I am unable to sync with Media Player 11, it states that unable to sync at this time try restarting & resetting player - did that and same issue? NEED HELP. Of course it has a 90 day warranty and it failed just after that.

    HELP PLEASE!!!

All I can add is, my media player 11 does the same darned thing, I cannot see the songs once I have disconnected and re-connected it- I just see the player listed, but it wont allow me to see the contents (and you'll notice that the players icon in the upper right shows how much memory is left on it- and you KNOW the songs are there!) Here's a weird thing though- on my mother in law's computer running WinME with media player 9, I can see all my songs, and delete any songs I choose to, or move them on or off of the player to the computer, like it SHOULD be!! (I think it's odd that Memorex includes a Media Player 11 disc with the player, as if that's what you NEED- when it seems Media player 9 works better!! By the way, my wife and I both have mmp8565 (2GB-They use the same firmware as the 1GB version) players, and they BOTH DIED about two months after we got them, within a week of each other- We were able to have Memorex actually send us replacements, and so far they are still working (with the exception of the problem listed above) It's just not a great product, though it sounds good, and works well once you load it. When I want to change my songs, I have to use the firmware from Memorex to wipe it and start fresh again. http://www.memcorpinc.com/html/downloads... Sigh.

My computer and Windows media player recognize my Memorex mp3 MMP8565 but will not read the music files and so, I can't update my music. I went to the Memorex site, but it says there are no downloads for my mp3 player. What do I do now?

You all are not all having the same issue at all. The vast majority of you have loaded songs that are the wrong format into the player, which is why they aren't recognized once you disconnect from the PC. You should convert them to Mp3 format to avoid having this problem in the future.

Emerald - firmware upgrade from: http://www.memorexelectronics.com/html/product_detail.php?PID=650#

sam and lyrna - format player first; if fails, firmware upgrade

All you have to do to access the files and listen to them, assuming they worked before is access the menu, then select browse all music, you will find your music files there, happens to me. To see your files on the play list section of the mp3 player, Open my computer > Go to your mp3 player > Select the music files > Right click and click add to play list.

Hope I helped

The device will show up on the desktop as USB storage, like a removable drive. You can drag and drop files (MP3s) just like a regular hard disk.

W.m.p. conflict???

go to memorexelectronics.com and then to support. You need to upload the current firmware for model MMP8565. I downloaded the firmware program and followed the instructions, it fixed all the problems I was having with the mp3 player. Make sure you follow the instructions carefully, it may get a little tricky if you are not somewhat computer literate.
