Question about Mitsubishi WD-52525 52" Rear Projection HDTV

Mistubishi WD-52525 Picture Failure

I came across this website upon looking for how to fix my recently broken TV. I noticed on this post http://www.fixya.com/support/t402363-mitsubishi_wd_52525_failure that you were able to help people who had the exact same problem. I am a fairly technically inclined person, but I can't seem to get any further than taking the back panel off, without worry of messing something else up. Would it be possible for you to forward the instructions on how to fix this to me. I do not have the service manual, so if you could refer me to a cheap place to pick one up, it would be greatly appreciated as well. My dad was a kind of jack of all trades so I do have some soddering experience as it seems to be a concern as well. Thank you very much in advance for your help on this. It is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your suggestion, however it was the capacitors as stated in the previous post. I was able to get them replaced yesterday and put the TV back together last night. It works perfectly. The self diagnosis doesn't seem to accomodate this problem, however replacing the capacitors is the way to go.

Mitsubishi WD-52525 picture problem

you didnt mention which two boards you replaced the caps on however each board in the chassis has the same capacitor issue. Sounds like you need either of the four V26 Repair kits. The FMT repair kit, The signal Repair kit, The Terminal 1 or the terminal 2 repair kit

Mitsubishi WD 52525 lamp replaced, no picture, red light

You have to take the TV apart. Pull the electrical chassis out and look for bad electrolytic caps on the boards. The red LED probably means the 2 - 3300UF caps on the power supply board are bad. You can tell if they are bad by the fact that their tops are puffed up and they may or may not be leaking brown fluid. Compare them against the other caps on the boards and you will see how they have flat tops.

BUT before you take the TV apart you can check the error codes by pushing "menu" and "Device" at the same time and holding for about 10 seconds. The status light will blink two numbers. ex. one flash pause two flashes is 12 Error Code Probable Cause

12 No error detected
22 Recovery from momentary Reset
32 Lamp Cover open
33 Air Filter Cover open
34 Lamp abnormality
35 Chassis Fan failure
36 Exhaust (Back Cover) or Lamp Ballast Fan failure
37 Engine (DMD or Lamp) Fan failure
38 Excess Lamp Temperature
39 Excess DMD Temperature
41 Short Detected
44 DVI Cable (between Chassis and Engine) disconnected

You can buy replacement caps from Mouser electronics online. There are plenty of solutions detailing how to do this already posted.

Blue Flickering Screen - Which Repair Kit?

yes they provide a free service manual with their kits. the symptom of the blue screen could either be the signal or the FMT as they can both cause those symptoms, My professional guess would be the signal board as the FMT will cause distortion lines across the screen with no picture.

Mistubishi WD-52527 52" LCD Projection TV

those are going to be dust spots on the LCD panels internal to the optical engine. i suggest that you take the screen off and take off the panel i nthe middle of the tv with 2 screws in it and there will be an area that has 3 metal fins covering thin orange ribbon cables. the 3 square objects at the end of those ribbon cables will be the LCD panels spray wiht air compressor unitl clean and that should greatly help your problem.

By "honeycomb" do you mean it looks something like 96 colums with horizontal lines running across them, left to right, alternating in intensity from top to bottom and side to side?? If so that's a common failure of the FMT board Mitsubishi p/n# 930b924002 and a spendy little board it is... Average cost approximately $425.00 dollars plus shipping... https://www.vancebaldwin.com/
Another alternative is to have it rebuilt at PTS Electronics for about $350.00 dollars plus shipping. http://www.ptscorp.com/
Any qualified shop might use one of these alternatives or bench repair it instead. A lot would depend on the findings of their tests.
Good Luck!
And please don't kill the messenger...
