Question about HP Pavilion dv9000z Notebook

HP dv9740us back screen of death

I got a brand new loaner HP dv9740us (centrino duo, 17'',3GB,blue ray, Vista Home Premium etc.)
Worked fine for two days. I had mysql installed on it. While running my app to write some data into mysql table, it went into this infinit loop of system beep to indicate that my sql insert wasn't correct.

I had to forcefully shut the laptop using power switch to get out of this loop. (killin the process from the task manager didn't work)

Now when I reboot I see lights come up but just black screen of death.
Don't even see the bios messages in the window.

Mysql install is not supported but there is a way to install it.
Anyway I got HP chat support and here's what I did as instructed to get it working again.
    1. removed battery
    2.disconnected ac adapter
3.kept power button pressed for 1 minute
    4. connected ac adapter
    5.hit power button
    It started to boot normally
    6 put the battery back.

The support person said something about static charge accumulation and needing to drain it :)
