When this occurs the first thing we examine at the shop is the front button curcuit board. or button assembly. Generally when those become damaged it can cause this. What is definatly a given is the processor of the tv is somehow recieving the command "put up the main menu" it recieves this command signal from ether the remote or the front panel button. Sometimes when people clean they use windex or other cleaner. sometimes this may get into those buttons and short them out. or in normal use mosture or just general use can cause this. When this occurs try pushing the menu button on the front panel... does it go away. The chances are if the buttons are damaged the board will have to be replaced. At our shop this repair will run 50 to 75

can you see the picture menu? Settings has the control panel with the slides on it like you would see on an equalizer, push the center button the fourth shaded area down is languages.if the dark blue cursor on the side is at the top of the bar. scroll down 3 and push the center button. that is the languages tab. english should be the one that is at the top of the list. hit the center button to select and that should be english.
hope my instructions are clear. Let me know if i can help further
