A local 911 Dispatch center has three of these LCD TV's. They all had Manufacture date of July 2005 on them Three of four have all gone down with no power up problem. Found capacitors bad on all three, able to fix first two with after market better caps. This last unit has burnt-up power supply and can't get any support from Viewsonic fort repairs. Unable to reach anyone last two weeks. Heard they moved from NC to CA and things are back logged. Never deal with Viewsonic products again.
Hello, I have the very same tv. It is also dated July 2005. A week ago, for no apparent reason, it just would not power up. I took tehe back cover off and checked the power supply and fuse, both good. see that you managed to replace the capacitor on acouple of them and it solved the problem. Could you tell me which type of capacitor I would need to get and if it is just a case of removing the old one (Is it the big blue one on the board on the left) and soldering in a new one. I am fairly competant with this type of procedure, I just need some reassurance that this might be the right way to go.
Thanks,
Vince
I called Viewsonic and they said that they have to replace B-00005963. The cost of this part is 61.68 + tax and 250.00 to install it. Hope this helped you.
Hello sir
You need to first check weather the blue capacitor is blown up or not, sometimes it would have been in the verge of getting damaged. So to check weather it is good or not see weather the top of the capacitor is not bulged if it is a condesor type capacitor. And mind u that discharge if there is any stray voltage. Also i would suggest you to replace the near by resistors too. And remember u can check the capacitor only after removing it from the board.Waiting for your reply.
Thankyou
