I had this problem today with a new Microsoft keyboard. The Alt + Print Screen did not produce an image when pasted in Word.

We found that "F LOCK" button needed to be cancelled and this useful facility now works!!

You have the F Lock button turned on so when you hit the print screen, you actually do Insert.

Deactivate F Lock - take the screen shot, and activate F Lock again you you can use F5 to refresh your game :)

I was having a different problem that Microsoft was helping me with and I was asked to print screen. Of course I couldn't work that one out. The technician suggested I try Alt + prtscrn and when the window opens press copy then go to start, then all programs go to accessories and paint. When the paint window opens go to edit and paste. I was a late bloomer when it comes to computers and silly me didn't know anything about the different keyboard shortcuts. I now have a copy that I printed off from the Help & Support in Start. Many thanks for your help

USB light for microsoft 3000 wireless keyboard/mouse not turning on. Keyboard and mouse not responding at all. Tried everything I could think of.

Go to Microsoft/help/support.com and you should find a solution. Sounds like you don't have the right hardware or a bad software pack. Also make sure the computer recognizes it. Try another keyboard if you have access to one. You'll probably have to go to another computer to get instructions and print then out and maybe you can do it with a mouse if it works and another keyboard doesn't work. If you can get another keyboard to work and download the drivers for the 3000 make sure the 3000 is plugged into the computer when you download the driver for the 3000.. They do have downloads for the 3000 I just went and looked and the last keyboard I had was a 3000 and I downloaded files from Microsoft. Hope this cures your Microsoft headache; dhgill1949

I don't think that the print screen key actually sends the current screen to the printer to print out. It used to do this way back when. What it does do though is capture the screen, which you can then paste into something like MS Paint or Photoshop or even MS Word. If you press just the "Print Screen" key on it's own, no function keys or shift or anything else, it will capture the entire screen. If you hold down the "Alt" key then press the "Print Screen" key, it will capture whatever window you have in focus at that point. So to capture just an error box message for example, you click in it with the mouse to make sure it's the active window (not grayed out title bar) then hold "Alt" press "Print Screen" then release the "Alt" key. You can then paste that into an image or word document by right clicking the mouse and selecting paste, or by holding down the "Ctrl" key and pressing V.

I hope this is what you were wanting to figure out when you were talking about the print screen key, and hopefully this will have helped you and cleared up a few things. :-)

If you want to check if the software is installed correctly and the keyboard is working fine try using the multimedia key. If you are able to use the multimedia keys for reducing and increasing the volume or mute the sound that means it is working fine.

If you are trying to configure the Favorite keys then you will have to select the buttons from the software and link it to the particular program of your choice.

Open the software application

Select the button that you want to configure

Click on the browse button to select the program of your choice to open with that button.

Wireless Multimedia keyboard volume keys won't work.

Go to start and run then type services.msc or if using windows 7 just go to start and type services.msc in the search box. Once open find the service "Human Interface Device Access". Change it from manual to automatic and make sure that it is started.

Check if there is anything stuck or jamming the button before buying a new one, but i think it is likely you'll get a new one. Because sometimes the key won't work, as somthing is preventing the trigger.

The Print key is not working

it depends what system you are running cetain programs and windows operating systems dont accept this shortcut

try going into controll panel clik keyboard and make sure hot keys are on

the only other reason is if you have eny other wireless functions running these can disrupt the signal from the keyboard to the computer turn off all wireless items and try agen

if none of these work try replacing the keyboard as it should work as long as hotkeys are on and the operating system you have accepts this function
