Mac Book Pro slow despite a clean install

My issue is slow internet on my Mac Book Pro.  I did a clean install.  I tried to follow the suggestion of entering in the DNS Servers box, but I couldn't enter anything.

I have many other Macs on the same airport and only the MBP is a problem.

Any advice?

I am set to Auto configure

Networking is my weak point with computers.  I use my laptop at many locations.

    1.  What do I need to do, step by step?
    2.  Will this Manual entry on my DHCP allow me to log in anywhere or will I have to change my DHCP each location I attempt to log in?

I actually have full bars.  I have multiple computers and I'm only having trouble with the laptop.  I've looked online and found others are having the same trouble. The only difference I see (settings wise) is I have apple talk turned on, on the laptop.

I'll try turning that off and see what occurs.

I believe that I need that to print at the office.

    Any other ideas?

So far it looks like switching Apple Talk off didn't change anything.  I have another boot drive on the same computer and Tiger is a bit faster when it comes to getting on line, but still not as fast as my other computers that are using Leopard.

I did try re-setting the P-RAM and that didn't speed things up.  I'm going to take it in to the store and see have them bench test and advise.

I am having the same problem. My MBP is 2 months old and its so slow when using the net. I have tried everything, the wireless is fine as i have two other computers that are really quick. Ironically the imac with less RAM is much faster. I am started to think that the MBP has an issue with speed. There are too many comments online for this to be an isloated issue.

My 3 month old MBP is slow on my office wireless connection.  My coworkers have Windows laptops and they are working fine and fast.  Help!

I am wondering if there are any updates on this topic... I've just started using my new MBP and immediately noticed a difference over my 2-year old MacBook. thanks, Mary

My macbook has suddenly become really slow, like a dial-up. Our PC and Linux laptops work fast and fine.
I'm ready to toss it in the bin and go back to Linux.

My macbook just suddenly became as slow as dial-up on every wireless I try even though I get full bars. Our PC and Linux-run laptop run fine and fast.

I'm seeing others on these pages having the same sort of problem with MBP. Maybe their is a bug that Apple knows about. I would check Macs website for an update or fix for this.MBP is a hot rod and definitely should not have this sort of problem.

Sounds like perhaps your MBP is having difficulties with choosing where to connect to airport. Do the DHCP designated assignment option, instead of automatic configuration

that's what I'm suggesting..shut down auto configure, and do manual assignment mode..

hmmm..well..then, this won't work for you. The dedicated approach is just for fixed location installations. The only thing that sounds like a possible answer is that your wireless signal is soft to your MBP.

Does this happen regardless of how close to your airport you are set up?

My MacBook Pro has been running very very slow - expecially when I boot it up

If you have lots of icons on your screen, they have to be loaded as it boots up. Make a new folder and copy them into the new folder. They won't need to be loaded anymore until you want them.

Why mac book pro restarting with no display?

I think it may be due to some hardware failure or display issue.
If you have some hardware knowledge then first clean your RAM and problem still exists then install new OS .

Changed the waste toner container, still blinking the waste toner container light + main red light, does not print. Using mac book pro. Have been printing without problems before. Tried to install smart...

I would suggest you to follow the steps in order to resolve the issue. Take out the power cable and wasit for 30 seconds and then plug in the power cable back in. Try working with the machin if still the issue persists then you need to get in touch with the manufacturer as it is a hardware failure.

Lost install disk for Mac book pro My 13" Mac book

You will need some install disks to even begin working on your issue.
Your options:
  • Find someone with the same model MacBook Pro and borrow the disks.
  • Buy a copy of Leopard (10.5) or Snow Leopard (10.6) and use them. If you are going to buy a set you might as well update to Snow Leopard (10.6)
  • Check eBay for install disks but make sure they are for the same model MacBook Pro.
  • Contact an Apple service center and purchase a replacement set of install disks.
Once you have a install CD, I would recommend backing up your system by making a disk image of the hard drive to an external drive. Then doing a clean install and then using the Migration Assistant to restore your user files to the clean install on your hard drive.

Very slow mac mini 60gb

There are quite a lot of reasons that may cause a Mac Mini computer running slow, but generally two factors: hardware part & system part. For hardware part: I guess it's OK if your Mac Mini is not that old. For system part: there might be a lot of junk files, caches, registry errors... out there which largely slow down any Mac machines. about 80% slow Mac caused by this reason, if so, try cleaning the system.
