Yamaha DSP-A3090 7-Channel / Power + Volume Knob Problems

Hello Everyone!

Two problems:
1) When turning the power on you can here the power click on and you can see the lights on the knobs but not the main screen, then the power kicks off. Will not stay on.

2) The volume control knob will not respond to the remote control. Works fine manually.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, found a unbelievable electronic repairman. He was not trained on the yamaha receiver but was very experienced in the field and said if I would pay $75 he would take a real look at it. He found the problem. It wasn't the power supply, it was quite simply two parts that had gone bad. It was the following parts, hopefully this will lead some others to the correct problem or atleast another idea to considcer when looking for the problem. First part was (2 each)
PN# LC75710NE, Price: $58.55 each, Second part was a Resistor, PN# R1.2W1.5, Price: $7.00. The receiver works like brand new.

If anyone wants to talk to this technician here is the contact info.

Universal Electronics, Phone# 251-414-3411 or
Fax# 251-414-3412

Thanks for all your previous help.

The initial click you hear is the relay for the main transformer. It will not completely power up beucase you have a major trouble in your power output stage badly shorted output already. the lite for the knowb is 5v, that is the standby power for the CPU. You really don't have a power on in the main circuit because it is in a protective shut off mode.

you simply have a defective power output stage, your main amp. total breakdown of the output stage.

Hi james, Hard to pin down a diagnosis of the problem without having a looksee under the hood. Good amp, worth repair, if you are into it. Could be a number of things

  1. Loss of a rail in the power supply
  2. System Processor down
  3. Main power transformer faulty
Are you able to check over the amps power supply? Need to start there to sort out the problem. Good Luck. Get back to me here if you want to get into it further

The sound of the LEFT MAIN Cannel disappears on my YAMAHA DSP AX-1

The fact that sound appears at max volume means that it is getting past and through the pre-amp stage. So it would appear to be in the main power amp stage the problem. It would depend what drives the channel, but if it's transistor driven I would suspect one of them.
