Coolant 'Plug' for Philips 60pp9202/17f

Hello, hoping someone would be kind enough to point me in the right direction. I have a Philips 60pp9202/17F rear projection television. I need to replace the coolant in the red tube, but noticed that the plug that holds the coolant in is broken. The 'plug' I am referring to is a black plug that goes into the side of the housing. On another forum someone said "The newer crt's will not have the white expansion chambers, they have changed this to be a rubber expansion located under a plastic dome integrated as part of the crt housing sitting on top you can see a black dome. on this type there is a black plug."

The black plug he is describing is what I need to replace. Anyone know what the technical name is for this and where I could get a new one?

I have attached a picture. I apologize for the quality, but it was all I could find. You can see the plug I am referring to. Thank you all in advance for the help.

PS - I did ensure that none of the coolant got onto the board btw. It is still holding the coolant, but only cause a broken edge snagged some plastic so the plug mostly stayed in. I have removed the board so I can correct the convergence IC's on it anyways, so it is safely out of the way.

    Thanks again,
    Jason

A very small amount of the coolant DID escape. Maybe a teaspoon worth. I did clean it all up and currently the plug is holding, albeit shakily, the coolant in. I had thoughts of cleaning the lenses and replacing all the coolant while I am in there as I need to replace the coolant in the blue and green anyways due to murkiness.

My concern with the silicon sealant plug is that as the set heats up I would assume that the coolant pressure would increase. Is this a valid concern or does it stay pretty consistent?

    Thank you for help.

okay, I have found a service manual, wow that was fun to find. Only took me 8 hours...Anyways, the part is X8 - Plug, Vent Page 190 image on page 187 ---- 3135 014 02642 . Does anyone have any idea where I could order a replacement? I appreciate accordianman's suggestion of using a sealant, but if I can find a replacement part then I may as well go for it.

    Thanks!

If you have not lost the clear coolant from the CRT, I would use a silicone based sealant to be the "new" plug. Is there a problem with your old coolant that you would like to remedy?...accordianman

HELLO , I have sound but no pitcher MODEL #51PW9303/17F

If the picture was somewhat 3d looking before with colors out of line etc--what you have is a convergence problem that has got worse.

Seen a number of sets with this problem--on this model only way to know is locate the two chips, get at them and unsolder all pins on each--if set then comes on (will look bad) you know both chips need to be replaced.

If this is beyond you set is old enough to just replace it--average shop cost for this is over 200 parts and labor.

Let me know if you have questions.

I have a Philips 46pp9302/17f picture is distrubed by waves of red and blue colours...I think it maybe the bulbs?

Go into the customer menu and find and select convergence with the Philips remote.

If it is out or skewed OR red or blue will not move in some direction it is a convergence circuit problem. Confirm this and I can tell you what parts are needed and a cost for them (Usually under 30 total)

Lots of people see this kind of trouble and think one of the picture tubes is the problem.

Let me know what you find and I will help.

You may have 1 of two problems.

1) Convergence Chips are failing - Using your original remote goto the "convergence" screen.

Try to adjust the red - UP - DOWN - LEFT - RIGHT

Next try to adjust the blue - UP - DOWN - LEFT - RIGHT

If you can move both colors in all directions you do not have a convergence issue.

If you can't move one or more colors in one or more directions the convergence chips are defective and need to be replaced.

If your convergence chips test out ok the most likely problem is......

2) CRT Coolant is cloudy  - The bright outline you described is one common symptom. Other symptoms include dull images, red or orange tint, halo around images.

If you goto the site www.TvRepairKits.com - and click on "Tips" - you will find more detailed instructions on how to check the convergence.

Dull picture, whites have halos, need to watch tv thru dvd player

the picture color problem is the coolant in the CRTs. You can get the coolant replacemnt Kit at the following link. The other problem with the Input through DVD sounds like the signal board. You can get the replacement board and the Phillips CRT coolant kit at the following link.
