Acer L5100 install problem

Just bought a Acer Aspire L5100 desktop computer. Can't figure out how this thing gets AC power. Nothing I have looks like the correct power cord or cable. It appears there is only a power cord for the monitor. Mouse and keyboard are wireless.

There are little or no installation instructions and I can't find anything more online. There is a AC/DC adapter with orange jack but this doesn't match orange port on cpu. Does anyone know where to plug power into this system...or does power feed back through cable from monitor? Is it powered via the USB port? I don't know, can anyone help?

There are no instructions on how to set up the acer aspire L5100. I already sent one back because I thought the instructions were missing, but they are not. How can I find out how to set this computer up correctly. It even asks for software to install the mouse and keyboard, but there is only a CD for the monitor. There are some pictures, but everything is in another language, and the tower shown is not the one that came in the box. HELP!!!!! Im getting frustrated. Is there a phone number I can call the manugactor to get some help.

I think it would get power through the Moniter so I don't think you need a power cord for the CPU. Hope this helped =)

There's an external power supply delivered with the system. One side goes to the (wall) socket, and the other side goes into the bottom back of the PC. It looks very similar to most external drive power supplies and plugs.

To get keyboard and mouse working you have to first install the wireless receiver into an empty USB port. Then click on the small transparent button (yes it's a button). It will start blinking in blue. Then you press the connect button on the bottom of your keyboard and mouse. Both should be connected then.

Is it possible to get sound trough HDMI cable on an Acer Aspire L5100?

Sure, it may just not be enabled. On Windows PCs, you may have to go to the Control Panel and go to the SOUND tab. There you may find that you have to choose between the default analog sound out and the digital sound output thru the HDMI cable. If your system has an audio manager application (Realtek for example, uses one), you can select the digital output there as well. It may even be easier to do there.

There is no power supply socket on the CPU. So the CPU must get power through the monitor cable. Right?

Most computers have a power supply and it is unlikely that it would be powered through a monitor cable. Are you sure there is not a socket to plug the power supply in to?

Sounds like you may have installed Driver Detective and it has taken over. Try removing any usb devices you no longer use or own first, then be sure you have the latest USB 2.0 drivers installed for your motherboard. Next try using ONLY the rear mounted USB ports for your Camera since some PC's have USB 1.0 ports located on the front panel. Good luck!

There is no VGA port on the computer. Our model number is aspire L5100 We just received this Acer from QVC and there seems to be a missing outlet.

Rich,

After looking at the spec sheet for your model - I've come to the conclusion that you have to get it exchanged for one that matches the specs sheet linked at the bottom of my post.

If you click the link below and scroll down a little bit to "Graphics Controller", you will see that the model should have onboard Radeon (which means a video port in the back of your computer).

Please let me know if this helps. Good luck!
