Go Video Playback Problem

DVDs play in black & white instead of color!  It's not a problem with the TV.  They play fine on my other DVD players.

Why is there no color

If using component video out please make sure that all cables are firmly and securely connected to the player and the TV.
-Component = Green/Blue/Red cables or jacks.

If using the video out please make sure that the TV color settings are not set to grey or black and white.

If everything is connected properly I would recommend to connect the player to another TV to see if the same issue will occur. Also check the color settings on the DVD player under picture mode.

Bring it back to the place of purchase since the item is under warranty, this is a manufacture defect and you are in your perfect right to have a replacement.

Hello

Does your TV have two
separate video inputs, or just two sets of video input jacks and only ONE
video input

Try disconnecting your VCR from the TV (or turning it off) and see if the
color comes back on your DVD.

Also make sure that your video connections are properly connected(check your manual for how to connect the AV cable)

Also, try playing the DVD in your computer and see if it is black and
white on your computer monitor too. If so, then it is supposed to be in
black and white.

Why is it that some dvds only play in black n white? Is there any way to fix this?

Your solution may be to connect your cables to the front of your tv, instead of the back as found here:

http://www.velocityreviews.com/forums/t699272-problem-solved-for-dvds-showing-in-black-and-white.html

Sony also supports this solution, as found here:

http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&externalId=C89600&fes=true

Sony also advises it may be due to a faulty cable or if the signal is being transmitted via a vcr.

As per this site:

http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/computers-technology/sony-dvd-player-only-plays-in-black-and-white/t.41173519/

if your s-video cable going to your tv is loose or is faulty, then only 2 of the 4 pins are communicating with the tv, thus resulting in a black and white picture.

Color to black and white and back again

Since you're using a composite cable (yellow RCA) that carries both luma (brightness) and chroma (color) information, it's not the cable that is the problem.

That means it's either the DVD player itself, or the TV. If you have another video device (VCR, etc) that you can connect to the TV, try that. If the other device also goes from color to black and white, then it's your TV. Otherwise the problem is your DVD player.

Since your TV only has mono audio (white RCA, but no red) I would recommend getting a new TV if the TV is to blame.

Picture only shows in black & white when playing DVD

Same problem with an older JVC player. One end of the S-video cable was loose. Pushed in in tight and everything ok again. Cheap fix if it works for you.

Color to black and white and back again

if you are using S-video cables for your video, try replacing the cable. svideo has 2 lines in it, one for color (chroma) and another for brightness (or black and white-ness (lumina) if one of those little pins is broke, or missing, or the cable is bad, this may be the case.
