I have a 92 accord. Automatic Trans... Doesnt move.

I have a 92 accord. I was on the highway doing about 65-70 and the car randomly shifted into 3rd gear and the RPM's shot way up. I got it back into fourth the car ran fine. I went to ge tin my car today and put it into D4 and the car doesnt move.. Put it into D3 nothing.... Samething all the way down the line D2 and D1. someitmes if i put it into D1 i can ge *** going but if i hit the gas to much it will just rev up... What could the problem be? the car has bee shifting very hard for about 5 year before this.

It is either your Vehicle Speed Sensor (easy to change) or your Automatic Transmission Computer (capacitors burn out on these boards, there is a fix for this too, the picture is at the bottom of this page). You need to diagnose by removing the lower right plastic kick panel on the passenger side. There you will find a blue plug. With the car OFF stick a paper clip, wire or stuff the plug with foil to make electrical connection so that the two terminals are touching. Then, turn the ignition to ON (not enough to start it though, just power it up). When you do this, count the blinks in the "D Light" or count your blinking Check Engine Light. Both are different but can refer to different things wrong with your car. A long blink is the first number and the short blinks that follow are the second number.
So imagine this as being 14 : ___ _ _ _ _

Below is a decoding chart:

My 92 accord shift level moves but will not engage any gear

First check the trans fluid (if its not a sealed transmission). They wont shift in gear if they are to low. If that is fine, The shift solenoid has most likley gone bad.

Your transmission has gone in to a limp home mode or fail safe mode, trans computer has locked third gear to prevent any more damage. Needs a diagnostic scan to confirm fault code could disconnect battery for 10 mins and drive to see if problem reaccures. Trans computer common to fail.

Car shifts hard (up & down), especially shifting to reverse.

that delayed reaction may be the transmission slipping. with those many miles it could be the transmission going bad
