My whirlpool washer died in the middle of a wash. It has a bad electrical smell. The coupling between thw motor and trani is not broke, but the motor is very hot. New motor?

IS IT A FRONT LOAD OR TOP LOAD MACHINE??? ONLY THE TOP LOAD MACHINES HAVE A COUPLER. THERE IS NO TRANSMISSION ON FRONT LOAD ONES....

IF YOU HAVE A TOP LOAD AND YOUR MOTOR IS HOT AND WON'T START, REMOVE THE PUMP ON THE FRONT OF THE MOTOR AND TRY IT AGAIN. IF THE MOTOR STARTS, IT IS PROBABLY BECAUSE YOUR PUMP IS STUCK OR DEFECT... IF THE PUMP IS OK, YOU MAY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE MOTOR. MAKE SURE THE TRANSMISSION IS TURNING (ONE SIDE FOR WASHING AND THE OTHER SIDE FOR SPINNING)...

Maytag Neptune Front Load Washers Wax Motor Replacement

The wax motor needs to be replaced and the control board requires repair or replacement should your Maytag Neptune Front Load Washer fails to advance to the high speed spin cycle and the "door locked" light is not turned on. This is a common issue that led the filing of a class suit against Maytag Corporation in 2004. Disconnect power to the machine prior to servicing to avoid the risk of electric shock that can lead to physical injury, disability, and even death.

Access to the wax motor for replacement requires the removal of the front panel and the top cover. Once the two are removed, disconnect the wires from wax motor terminals then pry the spring clip off and take the wax motor out. Take note of the wax motor position before removing it from the door latch assembly to make sure you fit the new wax motor properly later on. One simple and effective way to do it is by taking a picture of the door latch assembly prior to removal of any component.

Fit in the new wax motor and make sure the shaft is properly seated into the slot provided on the latch axle and secure it firmly with the spring clip provided. Reinstall the top cover and the front panel back into position once the wax motor is properly installed.

What does "F6: mean on my front loading washer?

F/6 is a Drive Motor Tachometer Error

The control is unable to properly detect motor speed and the machine will shut down.

If a failure occurs during high-speed spin the door will be unlocked after 3 minutes.

Potential Causes

• Check wire harness connections between the Drive Motor/Tachometer and the

Motor ControlUnit (MCU), and between the MCU and the Central Control Unit

(CCU)

• Check the Drive Motor

• Check the MCU
• Check the Wire Harness

Washer not spinning or spinning slow during spin cycle

chance are the motor control board has gone bad,to get to it you need to remove the door and then take a putty knife and go around the top and side and pop the clips by just pushing in and pulling back to you! after the top is lifted the are a couple screws holding the front on remove them and take front off, The motor control board is on the front right hand side. and you can see the motor in the rear left.you will need to order the replacement motor kit which has a motor and a board with instructions on how to replace these parts. any online parts store can help I use searspartsdirect.com

My front load washer is making a loud noise and think it is the motor, i took the front bottom panel off and the sound was coming from the what looks like motor i guess not sure what to do

Remove the rear panel . remove belt . turn drum pully if you hear any noise it is the rear drum bearing and seal . Reach inside drum from front and lift up on inner drum. If this drum moves up and down or side to side you will also need to replace the inner drum. If turning the drum is silent try turning the motor if it makes a noise replace the motor

Spin half the speed

Hi.

Depending on the make and model, and type of washer, you may need to test and eventually replace the following parts:

On top loads:

Variable speed motor .
Motor coupler.
Transmission.
Control board.
Motor control unit (if present)

On front load :

Variable speed motor .
Motor coupler.
Control board.
Motor control unit.

On top load the problem is often transmission or variable speed motor. On front load MCU or motor.

I have an Asko front load washer W6221. I have

I had identical problem. I diagnosed it to be the motor brushes on the front of the motor. They have an off switch in them when they get worn out. Easy to check and replace. Remove front lower panel (two torx 20 screws). Brushes are visible and are held with two screws each. One on each side of motor. Remove two screws on each brush and unattach wire. Two new motor brushes were around $75. Literally tooke 30 minutes to replace. Hope this is your issue!

Kenmore 80 series

ok sound lie a broke drive coupling lean the machine back look under the front you will see the motor in the center with a pump mounted on the front behind the motor is the gear case between the motor and gearcase is the drive coupling. To replace it disconect the power, remove the two clamps holding the pump on,remove the pump disconect the wiring harness to the motor now on the front of the motor there are two screws one on top and one one the bottom one the front of the motor with a 1/4 scocket romove the two screws. with a flat head screwdriver release the top clamp on the motor now the motor should tilt down and you can lift it off the coupling is on the short shaft of the motor and on the shaft of the gear case remove both may need to use a flathead screwdriver to get the one off the gearcase replace using a 1/2 deep well scocket and short extention and hammer tap them both on lightly but be sure the go all the way on put the rubber part of the coupling on the gearcase side and turn one of the fingers to 12:00 position turn one on the motor to 6:00 put motor back on the gear case bracket and put the top clamp on frist put the bottom clap back on insert screws put pump back on put pump clamps back on note you will have to turn the ootor to line the shaft up to go into the pump reconect the motor wiring harness plug machine in and test
