What is your model number? Sounds like you may need a new icemaker. Sometimes when the icemaker motor goes bad it causes the icemaker to keep filling even though it hasn't kicked out the ice in there. Also, are you sure there isn't 2 valves on the refrigerator?
The cause of that is the water inlet valve is not fully closing but instaed its staying open a little and seeping water through it all the time which is dripping into the storage bin for the icemaker and freezing all the ice into one huge block. To repair that the water inlet valve on the back of the ref. where the house water supply line attaches to would need to be replaced.
i have an elecolux ice maker leaks water into the bottom trays from the back of the fridge and water always drips from the front dispenser. the ice freezes in a solid block can anyone help me please. ew23bc71is3 is the model double door freezer on the bottom tks.
I see you said you looked and the water valve is off but the only that I know of this happening is a defective water control valve. Like a dripping faucet that when off slowly drips until the ice forms and then one the ice maker dumps ice and tries to refill the water goes in every direction. Unplug water valve to confirm what I am saying, Tell me if it continues to leak. Sea Breeze
My ice maker would not return to a level position after dumping out the ice. When the water turned on to refill the ice tray, it would run off the tilted ice tray and into the ice basket thus freezing all the ice cubes in the basket together. To remove the icemaker, there are two screws that hold the icemaker to the top of the freezer. Turn off the icemaker. Remove the left screw and loosen the right screw by removing the screw on the left. Slide the icemaker outward and it should come loose. Unplug the power connector from the icemaker to the freezer. The ice tray can be removed from the icemaker by gently pulling the tray to the right and the slot it goes into on the left side of the icemaker to the left. Once the tray is out of the assembly, inspect the round plastic shaft on the left side of the ice tray. Mine had two flat spots that were worn into the plastic from use. I used a dremel tool with a round barrel sanding disk at the tools lowest speed to remove the flat spots and decrease the overall diameter of the shaft which stopped the tray from sticking. Reassemble the ice tray in the icemaker.
Sounds like it has a " seeping " water valve . Only thing to do is replace the water inlet valve . There is a certain amount of water to go into icemaker at fill . A seeping valve will let water continually drip into icemaker , making large cubes which icemaker cannot dump . A larger amount of seeping , will overfill the icemaker , and drip into the freezer and floor .
Is it overfilling with water? If so, it may be an problem with the fill valve leaking slightly. I say slightly because if it were a large leak, the freezer would have frozen puddles in it. Also check the water chute to be sure the water is all going into the freeze tray. Sometimes they can work loose.
If the seam is leaking, there could be a crack in the housing - not sure that's repairable - sometimes epoxy will work (5 minute, 2 part) but it can be difficult for glue to hold on the type of plastic used in an ise maker housing.
the water(in the bottom of the freezer) is coming from
the freezer when is defrosts. the drain line is in the back wall of the freezer
and may be clogged up with ice. clean out the freezer and pour some hot water
in the very back of the freezer, this will hopefully unclog the drain. if not,
then you have to take the back wall out of the freezer to get directly to the
drain line. there should just be a couple screws holding it; it is just an
aluminum or plastic panel.
and
the icemaker problem
it could be that the water valve is slowly leaking water into up to the icemaker and freezing before dripping out of the tube. then when the icemaker turns on the water to the icemaker it is partially blocked by the ice and sprays water all over instead of gently falling into the icemaker.
if this is the case then changing the water valve on the back of the machine and defrosting the fill tube behind the icemaker should fix this problem.
Be sure that the fill tube is getting into the ice maker and that the ice maker is not blocked with ice. If everything seems ok, you may have a leaking water valve which causes it to constantly drip water into the ice maker causing the block of ice.
Check your ice cube tray to see if it is warped. Mine was. I took the tray off and dipped it into boiling water and remoulded it to the original shape and re-installed it. So far no problems. The tray gets warped because of the ice cube release mechanism. The tray is rotated around until it meets a block on one corner which creates the twisting motion we used to do on manual trays. Over time it tends to warp the tray. Good luck
