My xbox 360 is making clicking noises, vibrates alot, and is extreamly loude while running, i think its the fan in it but im not sure, so what should i do?

Hi Charles

There are several reasons your console is noise , First remove your game and
listen and see if the noise is reduced also the vibration should stop too.
I have seen or heard rather this before . The cause was a the drive spindle
hub some how got skew so the disk wobbled as it was spinning.

The fix was simply to replace the hub/spindel motor .
The rattling sound may be from the tilt switch or pieces of plastic
bouncing around . you will have to open your console to remove the
the small chunks of plastic + blowing it out will help cooling also.

The fan should not make that much noise . If it seems to be loud
then you may need to replace the heat sink compound on the G.P.U.
and the C.P.U.

if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Why is my system running so loud?

The 2 most common causes of noise are the DVD drive and the fans.
If it does it continuously, check the fans. Make sure you are giving it adequate ventilation (atleast 12 inches in the back and 3-4 on the sides minimum) because if the fans are running that loud it's an indication that your 360 is running hotter than it should. If it only starts happening when you insert a game/dvd disk it could be the DVD drives motor running harder. This is a more complex issue to tackle and not recommended for the unexperienced. The only simple trick I can think of at the moment with the DVD drive is to change the consoles position, if it's vertical, lay it down and vice versa. Hope this helps or atleast narrows it down for you.

Xbox 360 is loud - sounds like a loud fan motor. How can I make it run quietly?

You can try installing the game you want to play on the Xbox 360 Hard Disk, which reduces the motor noise to an extent, however there is no permanent way to fix the loud fan motor noise while playing the game with the disk in the drive.

Make sure you keep your Xbox 360 unit well ventilated, ensure it does not gather dust near the small vents and openings on the unit.

Loud buzzing noise

Mine is loud also when playing games. When playing DVD's it is not. I think it is a factory defect on some of the systems. I would not attempt to pull apart the DVD drive and try and fix it. It is working and on an XBOX 360 you should feel lucky that it is.

Sounds like a bad fan

Over time, everything gets old. I suggest buying a "Inter-cooler" it helps keep everything cool, and takes a little less pressure off the fan.

Xbox cooling fan sounds louder than normal

Yes, the cooling fans are commonly loud. Your xbox has a sensor on it when the CPU and GPU heat up, the rear fans suck more air out by turning up the rpms the fans run at.

Loud noises

Depending on the age of the system, replace or ignore.
Its your DVD drive, unfortunatly most drives are noisy -FACT- so sometimes you have to just live with it- check the back ,if manfactured in 2005 ( a lot of bad drives from this year) might be worth ringing microsoft to see if an exchange is possible.-
But if its not showing any loss of play/loading or scratching the discs - or showing error- please place disc in a xbox 360 console...You may just have to put up with it.
