Sounds like bios update error. can you access the bios?before the bue screen does it go through the splash screen? if so check bios and set back to default if you can.

if you replaced the hdd from another laptop it may not work unless its the same kind of laptop. drivers and manufacturer settings wont be the same.if your getting a non boot able cd then the cd rom may have died. no other options when prompted to run disk check? wont run through disk check?

Is this the (BSOD) Blue Screen Of Death that gives you an error message and prevents you from booting up successfully? If so, run the check disk utility.

To run the check disk utility you will need a repair disc ora operating system disc. Put the disc in the cd drive and boot fromit. You want to get to the Dos Command Prompt (Black screen with whiteletters) and type the following command: chkdsk /r
Check disk will run well over an hour or two and you will notice thepercentages going from high to low, this is normal. Let it run tocompletion. Then reboot machine.

If check disk fails to solve your problem you might have to reinstall windows.Try doing a Repair Install that way you don't loose your data, documents, music, pictures, videos or programs.

In windows xp you get to the dos command prompt by selecting R for repair whenthe options appear.

In Vista and Windows 7 you want to get to the recoveryconsole and look down at the bottom of the window for the Dos Command.
If you are talking about the color of your screen is blue then maybe your screen is going bad. Try an external monitor and see what it does. Borrow a monitor from a friend, relative, neighbor or co-worker and hook it up to the laptop. If the external monitor does the same thing then your Video Card is going bad. If the external monitor displays ok without any problems, then your original monitor is bad.

Some laptop keyboards have small "tabs" on the edge closest to the LCD screen, and those tabs fit "under" something metal,
in order to hold the keyboard in-place. Gently "work" that area, to get those tabs to move "above" (instead of "under"), to release the keyboard.

Whe I turn the computer on i cant get to windows

The problem could be a number of things. First try and remove your memory stick one at a time and see if it boots up with out the blue screen. If not try using a windows disc and boot from cd you may have to change your bios settings to boot from cd first. You use the F2 key when you power up to enter the bios.

If you are using the cd select command promt and run chkdsk command to check if your hard drive has any errors. Also run a fixmbr and a fixboot they should replace the boot file.

If that dosnt work you might have to re-install windows.

Hope this helps. :)

Ave tried to use the recover disk 4 times now, and

If you reinstalled the Operating System and are still getting errors then it is a hardware issue.

From what you describe it sounds like your hard drive is failing. A failing hard drive will "lose" files out of nowhere and cause many "weird" errors because the lost files are usually system files needed for Windows.

Blue screen on my dell latitude d600 tells me its dumping memory and that its complete says contact tech support

Hello my friend,
The blue screen is very popular and it's usually happen when there is a file system deleted or a virus on your computer.
You may try to boot up your system in safe mode and then uninstall any software that you installed recently and restore also your computer to a date when it was working fine.
If this doesn't fix the issue, you can try the recovery system if enabled when you installed your system for the first time.
If it's not the case, the only way to get this computer working again is by formating your computer and installing windows again.
Best Regards,

Just bought second hand, cant get it to load past 86%

Have you tried booting into the Safe Mode?
This won't necessarily fix anything but will at least tell you if some of the Windows installation is intact.
When first powering it on, tap the F8 key as soon as anything appears on your screen.
If that doesn't do it, try F5 it varies dependent on Windows version and/or system.
If you can get to the Desktop (it will look awful-icons spread way past the screen limits) and run some initial checks on it such as chkdsk to see if the hard drive is intact.
If you get this far, post again and tell us what happened.

When you hit F12 or whatever F key to go to the boot drive menu, make sure the cd is in and that you select CD/DVD Drive and the dvd should prompt you to hit any key or will automatically start loading for the recovery. Just tell me if you need further assistance.

How do i goto system restore

A blue screen indicates an operating system error or glitch. Without being able to upload to Windows, you won't be able to do a restore. You will need to do an operating system repair with the recovery or operating system disc. If the repair doesn't take, then try a system reload. If you have any problems at this point during of after the reload, then the hard drive may have failed.

no its a software problem.....I believe you are using Windows XP. can you tell when it loads or starts to load it stops at the windows loading part only does it go near the boot screen ie; XP loading........like that or straight to blue screen. Ive seen this before its not a hardware its a software. Have you got the installation disk XP if so.....insert it in the CDrom and start the machine up from scratch. Allow windos to go through the rig ma role of installation until it cant go no further. Press "R" for console go to the DOS line and type chkdsk /p allow windows to repair the problem when done remove the disk and start up again.....if Im right it should go pass that nagging "loading windows screen"...I hope it works for you, you'll be elated.
