ABMZN-LA motherboard I would like to upgrade my system to give me improved results running MS FSX by inserting a video card. What is the Strange black slot above the 3 white PCI slots. Is this for a AGP card? What do you recomend I do? Jane Fee msjanefee@ieee.org

I was able to find the motherboard on the web. It is actually an A8N2N-LA. The slot is a PCI-e. I bought a XFX-8600GT card and plan on trying my 300W power supply since it actually has 19A on it's only +12V output. I tried putting the card in and powering up with the current drivers and found that it caused the display on my monitor to shift to the right, barreling and a change in resolution that prevented me from accessing any buttons to access the control panel or shut down. I shut down and haven't done anything else until I am confident that I know the next proper steps to take. It makes me afraid to disable my current video driver.

    Thanks for your help.

Sounds like 8x agp. go to new egg.com. good deals on vid cards there. unfortunately for you the agp doesent get into the higher end video cards. nor does the standard pci. the transfer rates just aren't fast enough. but unless you are doing serious gaming either pci or agp will give you about the same frame rates.

no big deal really. just adjust the monitor itself back to center. then install drivers. now you may run into stability issues with a 300w psu. but it all depends on what all is installed on your pc. the more components that are installed the more power you need. my current motherboard needs minimum 400w just to post. but thats an asus sli motherboard. but don't fret, the shifted output is not a big isue at all. that happens when you go from on board graphics to vid card all the time. hope this helps.

I am going to upgrade ram to 1 gb. can i use ddr2 1 gb ram to upgrade .motherboard is microstar model ms-6526 ver: 2 . present ram is ddr1 400 MHz, 512 MB

If your computer has two RAM slots on the motherboard, i would recommend trying it. The computer will run on the 512MB stick alone and just not recognise the other stick. And if it works it works.

I have searced for support documentation and came up with none for the original MS-6526

I run my original version MS-6526 on a 512MB PC2300 (DDR1) and a 512MB PC3200 (DDR1) and it runs just fine for games and videos.

Personally I would recommend trying the DDR2 first and if that fails, return the card and get a DDR1 card. They are expensive, but at least they work.

Hi paperchap
You didn't mention in your post what problem you're having. If you can post that it will help.
In the meantime,I looked into your card for some general information. It's not really designed as a gaming card, but FSX isn't that graphics intense either.
When you installed the card did you install drivers from the disk or did Windows recognize the card and use it's own drivers?
Either way I'll give you a link to the newest XP drivers from Radeon. You should download and install the driver, the catalyst control software is optional.
Let me know what the problem is,and if you download the drivers and that fixes it would you please rate my post?
Post back,I'll help out with what I can.I run FSX quite a bit.

Is the MSI-K9N SLI-Platinum (MS-7250) capable of running an HD capable video card?

I would recommend upgrading your RAM to 2GB or even 4GB before investing into HD video card. It might be jerky. Your processor should be ok for it as it is.

Installed FSX & it worked fine yesterday. Tried to play it today & it says my graphics card doesn't meet minimum requirements. What gives?

Once you reboot or restart your system, FSX will run the checks that it didn't when you installed it hence the message. Upgrade your card and you will be okay. Suggest an Nvidia GTS250 if you want lighting fast graphics.

Graphics card issue - GA-0ST800 Motherboard

Your motherboard have an AGP 4X port, you can easy upgrade whit that card since it is an APG-card. Not sure tough that your motherboard can handle all that DDR3 power witch come with the card but im sure u will notice a big improvment.
I think that a cheaper card with 512 Mb DDR2 will give u the same results.

Good luck

RAM error with RAM Installed

Hi,
As I figure your problem, it seems that you upgraded your motherboard, and video card, but the other part are still the same with your previous P2, if you upgrade your computer better to upgrade everything, cause if your still using the old part like the RAM, the upgraded computer will not detect that part.
Thanks.

Insignia D400, new Radeon 9250, Sony DDU 1613 not working

you need windows professional or vista the reason the game runs slow is you need at least 1 gig of ram as the operating system takes 256mb to run this is why the game recomends 2.0 ghz cpu or higher 1gig of ram or higher the graphic card recomended NVidia Geforce 512mb xfx series with pixal shading and dx 9c compatable. clean the dvd lens with a dvd lens cleaner. the motherboard maybe the cause to the iso-13346 specification as the game is designed on intel and amd processors. hope this will give you help
