How do i change my volume and where is the fn key in this keyboard

Is it possible to control the master volume with some keyboard shortcut? I would prefer it to be without a use of some additional software. But if it isn't possible then the software should be pretty light-weight and not consume a lot of CPU/RAM. Thank you for your help.
PS: I DON'T intend to buy a multimedia keyboard for that.
Yes,you can create a Master Volume Shortcut and also assign a Shortcut Key.

Right click on a empty area on desktop, and click on New and Shortcut.

Paste the following in to the location of the item area:-

    %windir%\System32\SndVol.exe -f 49825268
Click Next button and give a name to the Shortcut and click Finish.

Now You right click on it and select Properties.

    Click Shortcut tab.

Assign your desired shortcut key like F8 or F9 in the Shortcut Key area.

    Click OK/Apply.

Pxe-e61 on my hp compaq nx6110, wont boot up!

If your laptop used to freeze up at random, the mouse and keyboard did not respond at some times or you experienced longer and longer boot times with the HP logo on, then your laptop is suffering from a motherboard failure. The options are either to get a new motherboard, or repair the one you have. Here's a great repair tutorial for non booting or random freezeup HP nx6110. The repair does not require any tools, except for a Torx screwdriver, and it usually takes about an hour to do the fix. If that doesn't work then you'll have to use a hot air gun and do a reflow of the FSB chip.
What happened is that in time, the FSB controller chip lost contact with the motherboard and since the FSB controls the hard drive, dvd, keyboard, mouse and so on, the laptop cannot boot. The repair tutorial will help you to re-establish contact between the chip and the motherboard, but you will have to open up the laptop. It's not a difficult repair, but if you're not very handy with tools, you may take the laptop and the tutorial to someone that can do the work for you. It's better to be safe than sorry.

You will need to:

  1. Turn off the laptop.
  2. Remove the battery.
Remove the two screws that secure the keyboard.
  3. Remove the keyboard.
  4. Remove the battery "RTC".
  5. Leave it in this state for 15 minutes.
Then connect only the main power cable WITHOUT the battery installed.
  6. Power on the laptop, and the RESET is done.
    Power off the laptop.
  7. Reconnect the “RTC”.
  8. Re install the keyboard.
  9. Re install the battery.
  10. Make sure there are no spare screws.
  11. Power up the laptop and continue to use.

No sound from sound card

Go to control panel. open System. Click on hardware then click on device manager. Check if you have any icons that have a question mark or an exclamation point. If you do then doublecheck the name if its your audio. If it is then Reinstall your audio driver. If not check your volume by double clicking on the volume icon near the clock. If its set to on go to your audio properties check your settings. If everything still does not work then have your hardware checked already by an outside technician.

Volume controls

Just sorted it. The solution is a touch long winded but it worked for me.

Sorry for the delay in replying but i THINK have have the solution which I got of the Saitek forums.
I have had the same problem with VOLUME controls on two MS keyboards and a logitech, this worked a treat.

So what do you need to do?
FIRSTLY check Control Panel->Administative tools->Component services and click "Services (local)", on the RHS look for "HID input service" under STATUS it should say STARTED, if it DOES im not 100% if this will help but try anyway. If it DOESN'T this should work.

Go to START->RUN and type REGEDIT and navigate your way to the following:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\HidServ\Parameters

If there is a file called "ServiceDll" delete it (make a copy obviously and stick it on your desktop or something). Right click in the RHS of the page and create a NEW->Expandable String Value.
Call it "ServiceDll" (exactly as typed here without quotes), and make the value read "%SystemRoot%\System32\hidserv.dll" (without quotes). Now exit out of Reg edit and go back to Control Panel->Administative tools->Component services. Next to HID input service right click in the gap under STATUS and press START. Close properly and your volume should now work.
Good luck.
