GD5RHAXNQ00 LEAKING? Every coule of days a large puddle of water appears in front of the freezer door. It seems to be coming from the area of the coil in the back inside of the freezer. It looks like some kind of defrost cycle gone horribly wrong.

  • busyatwork Feb 24, 2008

I doesn't seem to be condensation. I happens every few days and all the water appears in 5 mins. The last time it happened, 1 hour ago, I unscrewed the back cover. The coil had water dripping off it. I looked inside a few minutes ago and the coil is "frosted" up. I still think it's like a defrost cycle, but I don't know that much about refridgerators.

Hi,

To fix the water leak u can try doing the below method.
Try defrosting it, if this doen't work then do the following and ur problem will be solved..

BLOW AIR THROUGH THE DRIAN HOSE IN THE BACK OR BOTTOM OF THE FRIDGE FIND THE END OF THE DRAIN HOSE USE AIR COMPRESSOR .....

Here is another solution:

inside of freezer, take back cover out and thaw the ice with hair dryer or hot water. don't use any sharp tools. When thawed make sure water drains through defrost drain.

Goodluck..

There are several causis from water leaking from the back of the fridge did you check is not condensation? In case you will need to lower fridge temperature

If your fridge has an ice maker, then check the water supply line.
If it was leaking refrigerant it would not leave water, maybe oil, but not water.

First you ensure is not condensing water coming out from inside the fridge. Then you pull your fridge out so that you can get behind it, then look for a small plastic tube coming out from the back .this is the condensate drain tube, it runs down the back and under the fridg to a pan. where the heat from the motor will evaporate the liquid that collects there.make sure the tube is not disconnected, if it is not then check under the fridge and see if the pan is full of water , dirt.or leaking. some pans can be accessed from the front.while you have the fridge out it,s a good time to pull the plug and brush and vac in and around the motor. be surprised Howe much dust collects there. also while you at it disconnect the tube and blow it out to make sure it,s not plugged.

Water is leaking out from the bottom of the freezer

Below the freezer coil is a drain trough. Sounds like it is frozen. Use a hair drier to melt it and poor baking soda with warm water down it.

GE Profile leaking onto floor

Clean the drain pan and drain line in the back of the freezer section behind the cover underneath the evaporator coil. (hint: use turkey baster with hot water) Make sure water drains when you pour it in. If it doesn't - also clean drain tube on the back of the unit behind the cover. When done - put the tube exactly where it was.
Good luck! :)

My freezer door has solid ice, but everything else seems to work. I found a large puddle of water that seemed to be coming from the front left of the freezer door. I removed the door and found it full of...

There were a few models which had moisture in the door issues, which GE resolved by replacing the door with an upgraded version. Contact GE customer relations at 800-386-1215 with your full model and serial number and date of purchase. Use the M & S info from the sticker inside the fresh foods compartment.

Whirlpool, water puddles on top shelf of fridge

If it is not from a plugged or misaligned defrost drain tube, then it is always from air leaking into your refer section. Check you door gasket to see if it is sealing correctly all around your door. Make sure your door is shutting tightly every time. Good Luck, Appliance Specialists.

Water inside refrigerator

Even though it doesn't seem like it's coming from your freezer, morre than likely that's where it's coming from. At the back of the fridge there will be a drip tray that actually catches the water from the thawing freeze. One way to avoid access water is to simply turn down your freezer and fridge. Usually if they are number 0-10, both frigde and freezer should be set on the 5 level.

Water leaking from inside freeze.....

common issue.....sounds like a drain clog in the freezer compartment above. remove the freezer rear panel and totally defrost the evaporator area, directly under the evap you see( under all taht ice) a small drain hole that has become frozen over, try defrosting with either a hair dryer( not a heat gun too much heat youl melt everything) or by pouring hot water donw the drain until you get a free flow of water down the tube. after its clear reassemble and you should be fine

Hotpoint csx22bc 21.7 cu. ft. leaking water on freezer side

Look for obstruction at the drain tray for the freezer. Common to have plastic wrap sucked into that area.Or gunk in the drain line. Blow through line to insure the gunk is not an issue.

Puddles of water in Fridge

you may want to check your door seal, air leaking thru the door seal causes condesation, also make sure that the drain tube is clear under the defrost element in your freezer.
