Internet k sry for asking but to get on to my internet network i must have a network key (password) but i do not know it anymore since when i first got my dsl internet it was already saved to the computer. Is there anyway to find my password

How do I find my Network Key..or Password


If you forgot or do not know teh network / passkey of your wireless router you have to follow the following procedure to know the password (i am assuming that you have windows)

1. Connect your router directly to your computer (disconnect your cable / DSL internet from the router)
2. Use the Switch ports (ports marked 1 to 4 to connect to your computer / Do not use the internet port or WAN port in your router to connect to the computer)
3. Open command prompt (Start - Run - Type CMD and hit enter
4. Type IPCONFIG and hit enter. (not down the numbers next to Default gateway (it should be in the format 192.168.1.1 etc).
5. Type exit and hit enter
6. Open the internet explorer and type the default gateway you noted and hit enter
7. You should get a small popup asking for username & password - type
admin (username)
password (password) if this does not work (type admin for password also)

if this username and password does not work then you need to reset the router. (Please refer to the manual for this process)

8. if the username & password works you should be able to access the router page, then you need to click on wireless settings on the router page and then know or change your wireless passkey.

I have forgot the password to get on to the network. I cannot get on to my network with a wirelees device. How do I reset or eliminate the password?


Are you trying to connect to the wireless network ?
If it is asking you for the wireless password or the key , then that is the password set up on your router.
You will need to check the settings of the router.

Went I connect to cable I lose internet ,I don`t have cd anymore


Here are some troubleshooting steps that I suggest you try:

1. Check physical connections.

a. Connect the modem to the Internet port of the router. The Internet “i” LED on the front of the router should light up.
b. Connect the computer to one of the four LAN ports (i.e port 1, 2, 3 or 4) on the back of the router. The corresponding port light where you connected the computer should be lit up.

2. Access the router's web-based utility.

a. Please open any web browser like Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator.
b. Connect to the router by typing http://routerlogin.com/basicsetting.htm or http://192.168.1.1 in the address field and click Enter or Return key.
c. A window will prompt for a user name and password. By default, the user name is "admin" and the password is "password".

Note: If you were unable to access the router's web-based utility, you may reset the router to restore the settings to factory default.

To reset the router:

a. Please push the reset button at the back of the router and release after 30 seconds.
b. Unplug the power adapter for 10 seconds and then plug it back in.

3. Configure the router.

If your Internet Service Provider is using a cable connection, please follow the steps below:

a. Click on Basic Settings under Setup tab.
b. Select No for Does Your Internet Connection Require A Login?.
c. Scroll down on the center page and look for the Router MAC Address section. Set it to Use computer MAC address and click on the Apply button.

If your Internet Service Provider is using a DSL connection, please follow the steps below:

a. Click on Basic Settings.
b. Select Yes for Does Your Internet Connection Require A Login?.
c. Select Other on the Internet Service Provider drop down box.
d. Enter your ISP's username (username@ISPdomain) and password. Then, click on Apply.

4. Configure the wireless settings.

a. Click on the Wireless Settings under Setup.
b. Change the SSID to any unique name.
c. Scroll down, look for the Security Options settings and select WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy).
d. Set the Authentication type to "Automatic" and the Encryption Strength to "64bit".
e. Leave the Passphrase field blank, select Key 1 and enter a 10-digit number.

Note: The 10-digit number you typed in the key 1 will be the password or network key for the wireless connection.

f. Click Apply button to save the changes.
g. Go to Router Status under Maintenance tab and check if there is an IP address under Internet port. If it's 0.0.0.0, do a power cycle.

5. Power cycle.

a. Power off the modem, router and computers.
b. Turn on the power of the modem first and wait for it to initialize, the lights to stop blinking.
c. Power back the router and the computers. Check if it will be able to get online.

If you have wireless computers, you can connect them wireless to the router. Kindly follow the instructions below:

If you are using Windows XP with Service Pack 1, please follow the steps below:

a. Please right click on the Wireless icon on the right lower end portion of your computer.
b. Then click on View Available Wireless Networks.
c. Click on the Advanced tab.

e. Right click on the Wireless icon again and click on View Available Wireless Network. Please select your network and click on Connect. It will ask you for the network key.
f. Please type in the network key and then confirm it. Network key is the password you type on the key 1 of the wireless settings of the router.
g. Make sure not to enable IEEE and then click on Connect.

If you are using Windows XP with Service Pack 2, please follow the steps below:

How do I set up security with the DSL 604t wireless router


u can set security by 2 method
(1) set your router as wep and go to advanced security then enter encryption key it is prompt whenn any one try to connect its network this roputer.
(2) MAC security
When u type in cmd "ipconfig /all" u get all adres in there "physical addrees is your MAC adeses so enter in allow list in mac security so u cna access internet with this router.

No internet connection


This should be connected as so. From wall outlet to DSL modem, from DSL modem to D-Link router, From D-Link router to Laptop via wireless or wired connection. You will still need the DSL modem installed but the wire coming from the DSL modem will go to uplink port on the router instead of into the laptop.

  • In case of DSL connection, if ur internet service didn't give u any username & password u can try with MAC address cloning...
  • First check this thing that u r able to go online using the internet service provided modem ...
  • If it works ..
  • connect your modem & the router..
  • Login to the Admin UI
  • under router mac address
  • select use computers mac address
  • Powercycle the whole network.
  • Restart your computer and it will surely work fine..
