There should be a kind of a setting somewhere where you can choose contrast/brightness, change that.

Clean printer heads

Several ink based printers have a built in cleaning process. The printer will move the print head carriage assembly to a cleaning station that uses some ink to lubricate/wet the print head to loosen old ink. It lets it soak for a couple seconds and wipes it off. After the cleaning process some printer will do a test page or even calibrate colors. If a print head is too clogged up or the inkjet too clogged the cleaning process will not work then you will need to replace the print heads. May times you can not get replacement print heads for brands beyond Brothers or HP plotters so you may need to obtain a new printer.

My Kodak 3250 printer is printing very faded. I've changed the ink cartridges, even taken out the print head itself and cleaned it with alcohol. Calibrated it several times, print head aligned it several...

First if you used ALCOHOL on the print heads you most certainly made some DAMAGE because alcohol will MELT the microscopic electronic nozels, the best way to clean a jet ink head is to soak it into WARM WATER NOT ALCOHOL, if your lucky you could try soaking the head in warm water for 30 minuts, than VERY DELYCATELY dry it with a scott towel, than use GENUINE KODAK INK not generic or re-filled ink cartridges if all that does not work, well you probably need a new print head

Good luck!

Reset. Orange light blinks several times. Then Green. Then orange several times, then... on and on. Cannot reset. All ink cartridges have ink.

count the number of orange flashes in between the green light. two flashes = out of paper, 3=paper jam, 4=empty ink tank, 6=print head not installed, 7=print head defective, 8=waste ink tank is almost full

Printer says out of ink and I put new cartrages in I took off the tape, have put them in and out several times to make sure they are in properly. I have restarted printer and have shut printer off and...

Sometimes when the tape is removed a small piece tears off and remains stuck on the cartridge. Its' happened to me once or twice. remove the cartridge again and check carefully under a bright light. If it is clear of tape there may be dried ink in the nozzel. Use a dampened Q-tip to remove any ink residue.
Worst case would be a clogged print head. After trying everything else and you suspect it may be the print head, you can get a print head cleaning kit online for about $10.

New printer head and still won't print black

Try this one, Turn on the printer, Take out the inks, remove the printhead, put back the printhead make sure it will snap and you hear a click, put the inks back, wait for the printer to initialize, Press the Menu button, look for Calibrate printer, then print calibration page, then scan it after. Load a regular paper. Then try to print a demo page by pressing Photo and Copy at the same for 5 seconds then let it go. If same problem persist call this no for further assistance 1800 421 6699

MFC-790CW; will not print the black color..

You probably have a plugged print head or the black ink feed is plugged.
Depending on how bad it is you may find it easier or even cheaper to replace the printer.

If this is a ink caused problem you stand a chance of fixing it if you are patient but you might go through half an ink cartridge to get it working, If it is stubborn it can take 20 or 30 cleaning cycles before you see any black. You can try using household vinegar (dissolves the dried ink) on a qtip or lint free paper towel to try to clean the print head. To do this you remove the ink cartridge and very gently rub the towel with the vinegar on the print head. This might require you to move the print head to one side so you can see the actual print area (where the ink comes out). Keep doing this until the towel starts to come clean ie not as much ink coming off. Then run a few print cycles and if this works your printer will print as good as the first day you had it.

The next stage would require filling a old clean ink cartridge with vinegar and running cleaning cycles. Usually can be pretty messy and you should rethink buying a new printer but will really clean things out.

It is also possible that the print head has picked up clay or paper lint from the paper and this has hardened like a cement. That means replacement.

Light printing..need to clean

Depening on which printer it is , but normally all vendors include a system utilty with their printers to do head alignment, calibration and cleaning, some have what is referred to as a deep cleaning cycle as well, which does consume a bit more ink but does sometimes get rid of very light printing. If nothing else has changed in preferences such as print in high speed draft mode(which will give lighter than normal printing) then do a few cleaning cycles and possibly a head re-alignment.

Printer will not print black ink

Seems to be a common fault with Kodak EasyShare 5100/5300

Contact Kodak Support and go though the following tests:

Remove and re-seat Printer Cartridge(s) - Done

Clean Printhead - Done

Calibrate Printer - Test Sheet Not Complete!

Run Computer Colour Test - Done

They will then send you a new Print Head.

Wont print

I had this problem recently with my IP90. Both the black and color heads were clogged. After running the "canned" routines several times to clean the heads and deep clean the heads...still didn't help...here's what I did:

1. open the top lid to have the cartridges that are inserted in the print head move to the middle of the printer.
2. remove both cartridges
3. What is left there is the print head holder. Slightly move it to the right and gently lift the print head lock.
4. Grasp the print head and lift it out of the tank.
5. Have several paper towels hand and know that you will have color and bw ink on your fingers
6. Put the print head on the paper towel
7. Pour rubbing alcohol on the blk and color heads and let them sit of about 10-15 minutes.
8. after that dry the heads and re-insert them in the printer
9. I put new cartridges in the printer and ran clean and deep clean a few times.
10. My color and black and white print came right back!

Hope this helps.

Very Faint Printouts

I find the best way to clean the heads is buy some cleaning cartridges as they have cleaning fluid in them and use them to clean it will take about 10 or more times to clean the heads then put the color ones back in and try again.
Just keep putting it on clean the head don't do a print out till at lest you have cleaned 10 or more times.
