Also the computer would shut off instantly with just atouch of the power switch. I then reinstalled the original cpuand that worked . That's how I was able to find you . HP is no help as they only list 1 bios UG which i already have . Any help would be great. Dear SDZAKKMF,

Yes, they are both intel and 478 pin.

    Thank you for responding

were they both amd or both intel. if the first was intel and you used amd, that issue would occur. also check the socket type to make sure it is in fact 478

Go to the Intel website--they are pretty good at telling you which CPUs are compatible with each of their motherboards.

If new processor supports your old motherboard then you will upgrade system with your old motherboard.

If its not supported to new mother board then you have to buy new motherboard to upgrade your system.

Thanks.

Instal better processors ive one at 2.4 . i want 2 X 2.4 PROCESSORS on a asrock motherboard ,E5200 @2.50ghz, 2 gig ram,Pentium(R) DUAL-CORE CPU. How do i install this on motherboard

The CPU support list is here for you to check.

http://www.asrock.com/support/CPU.asp

If your MoBo supports the CPU you wish to fit, remove the heat sink and cooling fan, unclip the CPU and replace in the correct orientation. DO NOT attempt to force the CPU into the socket.

Also note you may have to upgrade the heatsink and cooling fan.

I have a hp with a 5200+ 64 x2 2.6 ghz processor and a hp model Narra-GL8E motherboard (asus model name M2N68-LA). i want to know what is the largest processor i can put in my system that will work.

You can see the official HP statement here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc=de&cc=de&docname=c00906129

Your HP offcially supports Athlon 64 X2 CPUs upto 5600+.

But as a side-note: upgrading from a 5200+ to something like a 5600+ or 6000+ is performance-wise hardly noticable and very little value for money, you're way better off buying a complete new computer or just upgrading the RAM amount (which will very likely to improve performance more than a slightly faster CPU and costs much less).

Asus P3V4X/S370-133/Tualatin 1.2Ghz

It turns out that while the BIOS will not appear to recognize the Pentium 3 1.4GHz Tualatin CPU (SL6BY) in my Asus P3V4X motherboard, Windows XP does! I apologize for my delay in posting this.

I have five extra SL6BY processors that I'd like to sell if anyone is interested. I need to make some money to upgrade the memory in this antique to 2GB (turns out that low density 512MB RAM does work in the P3V4X, by the way).

Thanks,
Eric
