the problem, is that, the programme scans the logon window, of a website, but does not seem to recognize it ( error: ths is not a logon page). it does work well with login onto the OS, its just the website logons. or can anyone surgest another programme, thats good and safe?

I have the exact same problem. you cant enter in the information for the biometric system because the system doesn't recognize that their is a logon screen. all you get when you try to register a site is "this screen is not a logon screen.

Same problem with my new HP notebook. Thing is, I think it DID work with a couple of web sites the first day or two I was playing with it, the it stopped. Can't figure it out.

Does work with windows login, though.

I have exactly the same problem with my new HP Notebook. At the two first days it worked, but now it shows me this error page, when I want to enter the Password Manager:

"The Digital Persona Personal agent is not currently active. Please logoff and then logon again to correct this problem."

I tried it many times by loging off and on again, but it didn't work. What can I do, please help me?

Exact same problem here. It worked AWESOME for the first few days. Now it doesn't work at all on any website. The website logons I created are still in my logon manager but they just don't work.

Whenever I use mine it will enroll the fingerprints, but I can't use it to login to Vista OR with internet browsers or Instant Messengers. Whenever I try to use it with FireFox, it says "The user does not exist or the domain is not available"

NOBODY seems to have an answer. Dell has replaced every part on this computer and DigitalPersona refuses to help me.

I have an HP notebook that came with the built-in fingerprint reader and digitalpersona software version 3.1. I am (and always have been) using Internet Explorer. Two weeks ago, digitalpersona suddenly stopped working. When I go to my usual login pages and swipe my fingerprint, the green checkmark will appear but it won't put in my username or password. I would then go into the logon manager and a box would come up that is searching for a login screen and I get this message: "This is not a logon screen." However, I've used it plenty of times before (for about 9 months) and, out of the blue, it gives me this problem. I tried contacting digialpersona and their website was of no use -- no troubleshooting pages or anything that could help me solve this problem. I finally got a response from them after filling out some complicated form that's intended for business users and they told me to contact HP -- basically passing the buck. What HP suggested was that I uninstall and reinstall the program. Still didn't work. Then they told me to use recovery manager to set my laptop back to a period when it was working. Nope. Their last suggestion was to reset my entire laptop back to the factory settings. Are you kidding me??? Like I have the time to back up thousands of files, re-download all the programs on my laptop, etc. I have just given up and come to the conclusion that digitapersona is a worthless piece of junk. I will never suggest their product to anyone and, in fact, I'll probably spread the word to avoid it due to their software flaws and inability to provide competent troubleshooting advice.

I had the same problem describing:

"The DigitalPersona personal agent is not currently active. Please log off and then log on again to correct this problem"

Solution #2 from SekVen was a direct and simple solution!

Something I completely overlooked! Starting up the service for yourself!

    Thanks Sekven!

in the shortcut tab click on te button "open file location"

Find the "DpAgent.exe" and dbl click it...

If you do not have an "open file location" button in the shortcut tab of the properties window,
    (WinXP users)
just "explore" to the same folder to find DpAgent.exe.
In my XP PC they were located at:
    C:\Program Files\DigitalPersona\Bin\
    Thanks sekven! You rock!

Hey, I figured this one out. I also had the problem about "this is not a login screen'. I fixed this by going into tools on internet explorer. Going to the "programs" tab and hitting Manage Add-ons. For some reason after I erased the history on my internet explorer, digital persona was disabled, so I right clicked it and enabled it. I restarted internet explorer, and just like that, it worked. Hope this helps somebody.

You are referring to a biometric security device, so is there a password manager integrated into it, if so you may have to manually enter your login into the logon screen before it will ask you to save this information. At least that's how it works with my password manager. I hope I understood your issue, and if not, please give more details.
Good luck

PS/FYI: To Scknascar88, it obviously boots to Windoze because website logins couldn't be accessed if not. Unless it's another OS that's being used.

I have a acer laptop computer, there is a person name and password on there and i can't remove it off, bought it at pawnshop, how do i enter my own information?

Try to logon as administrator. At logon screen press Ctrl-Alt-Delete to popup the logon dialog window. Instead of the person name type "administrator". Do not enter any password in the field. Press OK. If you're lucky you will log on as administrator. Then use Control Panel -> Users to remove the current user and create a new one.
If you cannot logon as administrator, then you can use a program for removing passwords, loaded from a bootable CD like Superutilities or Hiren Boot CD. Reinstalling Windows is a solution too.

DigitalPersona Personel Fingerprint reader not detected, HP Pavillion dv6706tx Vista 32, DigitalPersona Vers. 4.11.3805. All drivers up to date. In device manager cannot find Personal too. Any idea how to...

To install DP4.11 first uninstall all previous versions on your system and turn off authentec and biometric services in Windows Services so you can then delete the digital persona folder in Program Files (assuming dpagent was running) and uninstall fingerprint driver, then delete Fingerprint sensor folder in Program Files reboot and system will find and install fingerprint driver then double-click to execute and install DP4.11 setup program. (Note: all previous saved passwords for websites will still be listed in digital persona - you will not lose any passwords from your previous installation)

Dv9700 HP Notebook PC: DigitalPersona Personal 3.0.0 "The fingerprint reader is not detected"

I found this on another site and it worked for me!

"Ihad the same thing happen, and determined that you have to go back toan earlier version of the Authentec driver to make it work. I tried 4versions and the only one that works with DigitalPersona is,dated 2007-08-28. You can find it on the HP Website. It appears to beavailable in a number of Softpaqs, such as sp37815.exe, sp37812.exe andsp37920.exe. Maybe these different versions are meant for differentmodels, but they appear to be the same driver. There is a brand newdriver available from Windows Update, but it doesn't work. I hope thisworks for you.

To fix this issue go to device manager, then under personal identification devices, right click on the authentec fingerprint reader.

click on the driver tab, and click the roll back driver button...should fix the problem for you...I also tried EVERYTHING you guys mention but to no avail....this works!!!

Lay your finger flat down, with the first section of your finger above the reader, then keeping it totally flat, gently but firmly and slowly, glide it across the reader, moving it toward your right side after you have ran it across, as make an "L" shape. Be sure to go slow, and keep it flat.
