Question about Singer CE-200 Quantum Futura Computerized Sewing Machine

1 Answer

Thread breaking Let me first explain ...I was embroidering and the bobbin thread got all narled up took it apart an it was all around bobbin case, i took the whole bobbin works apart cleaned the thread out and noticed that there is a rubber washer under the bobbin case, this rubber washer is kinda messed up to. Do I need to replace this rubber washer......put it all back together and now it is breaking thread. If i need to replace the washer where can I purchase one? The silly bobbin case is plastic of all things, It jumped and jammed and then threw everything out of sync, the needle then hits it and voila, no good any more. I've had one already replaced through Singer rep. who wouldn't do it without cleaning, service etc. and an enormous bill. I didn't use the machine for nearly a year, now when it's out of warranties, it's jumped and jammed again, the same thing. It looks to be the timing, would you have the instructions for re-timing ? Thank-you. I'd like to know how to do it, as this seems to be an ongoing problem.

Hi the machine is Singer Quantum Futura 200 Thanks

  • singed Feb 24, 2008

Hi, I've just used the emery board on a burr on the bobbin case. It was an immediate improvement, but after some straight stitching and pattern, it deteriorated to skipping near all stitching again. I am using the correct size and type needle for project and the machine is threaded correctly. I have also noted your supplier and the part availablity.

  • singed Feb 24, 2008

Please note the first part of the original question beginning "Let me first explain ..............." to " replace washer, where can I purchase it from ? " was not my letter.

My question began at " The silly bobbin case...."

Do you have the correct size needle for the thread you are using? are
you using a good mercerised thread? do you have the needle in the
correct way round,? top tension between 4 and 6 and bottom tension
tight enough so you can pull the thread through with some resistence,
have you got the machine threaded correctly?

  • Priya darshan Feb 24, 2008

You may also check to see if there is a burr on the surface of the hook. If
there has been a needle break, it could have hit the hook and put a
rough spot on it. You can use a very fine emory cloth of some kind to
    remove the burr.

Now coming to buy the part for your machine please go HERE
    and select accordingly.

    Goodluck..

Did you visit the links which i gave you?

  • Priya darshan Feb 24, 2008

OK, this is a general timing procedure. Loosen the screws on the main
shaft gear that goes to the hook drive gear and separate the gears.
Next put the needle in the left position and bring the needle all the
way down by turning the handwheel. As the needle comes up make the
point of the hook enter the scarf of the needle (just above the needle
eye)and hold it there while you put the gears back togeather and
tighten the screws. This should put it close to being in time. To fine
tune it you can loosen the needle bar screw (half way up the bar that
holds the needle) and adjust theneedle so the hooks point is just above
the needle eye. You may have to do this a few times in order to stop it
    from skipping stitches.

Keep the thread from collecting on the arm that holds the bobbin case in? My Brother LB-6800 sews quilts, and embroiders great until yesterday, The thread wraps around this small arm every time now.

Try taking the bobbin case out and re-insert. It sounds like the case that holds the bobbin is not inserted correctly. You might also try checking to be sure that the needle is inserted properly. Sometimes the needle gets loose and drops down too low. unscrew, push the needle up as far as it will go, then tighten the screw.

Check that the thread is tight around the bobbin. Make sure that the bobbin is in the right way around - the bobbin thread should double back on itself coming out of the bobbin holder. The bobbin tension adjustment is the small screw in the plate on the bobbin case that the thread passes under as it comes off the bobbin and goes out.

With the embroidering, some of the bobbin thread is SUPPOSED to show on the top of your embroidery-the machine isn't doing anything incorrectly. You'll need to thread your bobbin with the same thread as you are using with the top. I had the same "problem" when I first got the machine and took it to a wonderful local technician whose helped me with a lot of things who informed me that this is perfectly normal on embroidery machines.

I have the futura ce-100. When embroidering it

This annoys the heck out of me, cause it happens a lot more than it should. There can be some valid reasons as to why it happens, though.

Your top thread could be broken or about to break; your bobbin thread could be broken, about to break or empty/about to become empty and is loose around the bobbin; you could have a birds' nest (a mass of thread just under the fabric/presser foot and/or within the feed dog and bobbin) forming and causing a jam; or it could be your Futura having a little bit of a hissy fit. Obviously, if you've checked for broken thread you need to move on. Check for a birds' nest by removing the fabric and clip your threads. If you find one, clear it, rethread your bobbin and begin sewing again. If there's no birds' nest, then place the fabric back in and try sewing/embroidering again. If the machine acts up again, I recommend removing the fabric/hoop, rethreading your top and bobbin threads, replacing fabric/hoop and resuming where you left off. If the machine still gives you trouble, try hitting the start button for a couple of times and seeing if the problem doesn't simply resolve itself. When you're embroidering areas that have a few small, short stitches only, the machine seems to act up a little and then behaves fine once you bypass the area. Be sure to take all of the other steps first, though, because a birds' nest will RUIN a beautiful seam or embroidery.

Top thread will not pick up bobbin thread makes a big loopy mess

This is sometimes caused by the upper thread not threaded correctly. You need to thread it first with the pressure foot in the up position. You need to "floss" the thread into the clear plastic guide as this is where the tension is. The tension should be set to E for embroidering. Also make sure you get the bobbin thread in the slot on the bobbin case. Also, lower your pressure foot before you begin embroidering. Hope this helps!

Thread frays and breaks when sewing and embroidering.

Make sure that the machine is threaded correctly, that the needle is in properly, that the bobbin case and bobbin are both inserted correctly and that you are not using old thread.

Make sure that there is a new needle in the machine and loosen the top tension about a number

You need to carefully re-thread the machine.

Thread adjustment

Sounds like the bobbin tension is loose. Look at this website on their "repair" page where it explains how to adjust the bottom(bobbin) tension.

Embroidery Problem with my disney

Check your bobbin case. Thread the bobbin through your bobbin case while holding it in your left hand. Pull the thread with your right hand and feel if there is any resistance. If not, you need to adjust the tension on the bobbincase. Also check if a piece of thread or fluff did not get stuck between the tension blades on the bobbin case. If you are not sure how to adjust the tension on the bobbin case, ask your dealer to do it.
