Question about NetGear WGR614 Wireless Router

Trouble reconfiguring WGR614 v5 after reset

I had to reset the router and trying to reconfigure and it's connecting. Once it has identified PPPoE successfully, I entered the new authentication info for SBC DSL connectivity and configured the wireless profile also. The computer is able to identify the profile also (shows excellent). However, wireless network connection is not getting established. It says 'limitted or no access'

I am sure mode is alright as I could connect with cable.

Every time I try to configure the router settings, it's identifying PPPoE and I am entering the authentication and restarting the router. When trying to connect to the profile, it's kept on saying 'Acquiring Network Address' and comes out by saying 'Limitted and no connectivity'. When checked the details, Default Gateway, DSN Server, WINS Server are showing blank. When trying to Reair it, says... Renewing your IP address.

Please suggest what would be the problem.

    Thanks in advance

Dear Koteshst

Is it the router that's showing 'Limitted and no connectivity' or the PC trying to connect to the router? If it's the latter make sure that the router is configured to assign IP addresses via DHCP and that your WEP/WPA keys match on both sides. If it's the former check your authentication info for SBC.

Let me know.

Either reset and reconfigure your wireless if you lost the key or you can download Cain & Abel on a computer that is able to connect to your wireless, install it. On the decoder tab click on "Wireless Passwords" then click the blue + symbol. This will display your wireless key. Cain & Abel will most likely get identified as generic malware by your AV. You can safely ignore that warning.

Forgot mynetwork security key and I am trying to connect my daughters computer to the internet.

You'll need to reset the router then, unless someone else knows it, or it's printed on the router somewhere. There's a small reset button on the back, hold it in for 30 secs, you may need a pencil or something. Then you have to set up the router again. At least it's good practice and you won't forget it again in a hurry ;-) hopefully anyway.

When you reset the router, it comes back to factory default settings. Now you will need to reconfigure the router for the Internet connection.
If you have the CD then try to run the CD.
Or you can reconfigure the router without the CD also.

My router works fine with a cable pluged into the computer, but when i unplug the cable to access the wireless internet it will not pick up any wireless connection. sometimes it will have the connection...

You should reset your router by sticking a pin in the pin hole on the back.
Once reset, reconnect a LAN cable and then reconfigure the wireless network.

If you keep having trouble connecting, try changing the channel your wireless network is being broadcast on.

My wireless router wont let me connect to the internet, the internet light on the unit is amber. My unit is netgear WGR614

When the router sees an ethernet connection on the WAN, it gives an amber light until it links to the internet. So, either it's a DSL and you need to set the PPPoE properly, or it's a cable connection and you need to configure it with the DHCP or IP address.

Check your ISP's modem instructions carefully and reconfigure.

Ethernet connection works but can't go wireless

This is your router trying to connect to the modem, ensure that the routers wireless connection is enabled and see if your router when you access it is giving your pc an ip address. Make sure DHCP is enabled for automatic ip address allocation. Run this programme, click Start>run then type ipconfig /flushdns then press enter. This will flush any old addresses given by the modem.
