Hi,
What operating system are you running ??
If it,s windows 98 you,ll have problems, as they don,t like mass staorage devices, even with the drivers installed.
the other alternative, is to try on another PC And format it to FAT/FAT32 Or NTFS ( if your using XP )

If it doesn't have a sliding "write protect" switch on it as shown in step 2, try step 5 or step 6 on this page:

http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/how-to-fix-write-protection-errors-on-a-usb-stick/

Small sd cards have a small slider in the case itself. Flash drives may have partitions on the drive itself. One or two of these small partitions may have write protection on them that cannot be removed. If you have too much trouble, put the flash drive in a usb slot, wait for it to be recognized. Open the control panel and open administrative tools. Click on computer management and then in the left lower pane, click disc management. In the right pane, there will be a window that shows and lists all the drives and partitions. Look for your flash drive and you can delete volumes, partition the drive etc.

I have a PNY 4GB high speed USB Drive. I want to

Well, the easy way would be to do this

But if you want to use the USB drive just insert it into an open USB port
  1. click Start
  2. click My Computer
  3. Select the USB drive from the list of connected drives
  4. Click and drag the files from their location to the USB drive
To get them to the other computer follow steps 1-3, then click and drag them from the USB drive to their new location.

Go to ADD HARDWARE and try to force the install.

Just so you know, Optima Pro Attaché USB 2.0 Flash Drive was designed with Windows Vista in mind, and works in conjunction with new SuperFetch (intelligent caching) to enhance system performance for quicker startup and windows multi-tasking.
But it's also compatible with most PC/MAC laptop and desktop computers with available USB 2.0 port (Backwards compatible to USB 1.0).
