I get a dark streak down the left hand side of every page.

It is either toner cartridge or fuser.
Print a few sheets of anything.
While printing, open the cover and pull out the toner.
Look down at the paper. If you see a dark streak, you have to replace the toner.
If the page is streakless, replace the fuser.

Toner is printing on right hand side of each page printed

Most likely it is the drum cartridge. The other causes such as toner on the laser optics would not produce an on again off again print area. It would be blank the entire way down the page. Since the toner prints in patches down the right side it means it is coming from something that is "rotating" and that narrows it down to the drum.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

No longer printes perfectly horizontal on forms, now left side ok and right side drops down a little

Sounds like toner smear. The causes can be:

1. The weight of your paper exceeds the recommended paper weight for your printer.
2. The inside of your printer needs to be cleaned.
3. The toner cartridge is empty and needs to be replaced.

To correct this problem, try the following steps in order. Between each step, close the printer or make sure it's closed, turn it on, and then print a test page to see if the problem has been corrected.

1. Use only the recommended weight paper for your printer. Samsung recommends the following paper weights: 16 to 24 lb. (60 to 90 g/m2) for the main paper tray with multi-page feeding and 16 to 43 lb. (60 to 163 g/m2) for the manual tray and for the tray with single page feeding.
2. Clean the inside of your machine with a moist cloth to remove any dust or dirt inside. Note: DO NOT spray water directly into the printer. Spray the water on a cloth, and then use the cloth to clean the inside of the printer.
3. Replace the toner cartridge.

Lightness down middle of printed page

Take the toner cartridge out and shake it side to side. What you want to do is "rebalance" the level of toner. Most printing on a page is on the left side, and that usually where a problem like this shows up. Down the center can be the same thing.

If that doesn't fix it, I would try replacing the cartridge.

Do you use OEM? (Factory original) or Aftermarket cartridges?

HP 4100DTN

Run a half test. Start printing a few pages, as it prints open the cover, remove the toner and look down at the paper. Does it have lines on the right side? If yes - replace the toner cartridge.
