Re: using monitor help
Hi, you can try to remove the hard drive and use a USB adapter to connect to laptop. Go to drive in explorer, Program Files, find the software you want to run and it should work with no problem,,,,,,,I do this with my laptop, You can also Ghost an image of your dive to the good laptops drive if its big enough.

I highly doubt that your machine will allow more than one monitor without both of the monitors being the same image. External monitors on laptops can be used to extend the display, but only by using the laptop screen as one of the two. It is possible to split VGA to duplicate images on two screens, but true dual monitors will require a DMS output or something similar, which I've never seen on a laptop.
Desktop PCs automatically seek an external monitor to output graphics to. Laptops default settings send the image to the internal monitor. You need to manually instruct the laptop to export the image to an external monitor.
With the cable connected and the monitor powered up, try pressing the Fn key (bottom left of keyboard) on the laptop and simultaneously pressing the function key at the top ofthe keyboard with an image of 2 monitors (often F5 or F6) to sent d the image to the external screen.
What is happening is the settings that you have set on your laptop are too high for the monitor to recognize.
You will need to reduce the resolution settings in you display
properties which can be found by going to start-settings-control panel-
display- and in the display area choose settings.
Some video cards will let you adjust each item. Some you have to use the same resolution on both screens.
