You can connect more computers and share the same internet connection by following this setup:

  1. Setup your router. Plug it to the power source and turn it ON.
  2. Setup your cable modem or DSL modem. Plug it to the power source and connect it to your router using a LAN (ethernet) cable which is usually provided by the router package.
  3. Make sure that the LAN cable is connected to your modem and that the other end is plugged into the router at the Internet Port which is usually an isolated port. The ports at the back should look like: [ ][ ][ ][ ] [ ]<=internet port.
  4. Once this is done, your router will be broadcasting internet signal via wifi and any wifi device can automatically connect to it.
  5. Also, other computers can gain internet access if you directly connect them to the 4 ports at the back of the router using LAN cable.

Hi Alex_ghy2000

You can do this several ways.
1) the router has 5 ports on the back. 4 grouped together, one by itself off the side a bit. The one standing by itself is where you want to plug in your cable modem or DSL modem netwprk cable. The other four ports you can plug laptops or desktops directly into for direct Internet access. Easy but lots of wires.

The other way is to still plug your cableor DSL modem into the uplink/WAN port on the back as I described earlier, but instead of plugging cable in, if your laptop is wireless (most are) it will pick up the wireless network and connect.

Linksys has great documentation. Here is a link to get you started. Hope this helps

You have two ways on how you can get other computer online through this router. First, you can wired them (using an Ethernet cable) to one of the Ethernet ports on the back of the router. They are the ones labeled 1, 2, 3, and 4.

Second is through wireless, but those computers that will connect through wireless must also have a wireless adapter to be able to pick up the signal that this router is broadcasting.

connect the broadband modem to the internet port of your router (probably is blue). Then connect your pc to the router.

WIFI not working with Linksys wireless-g broadband router/Comcast

Unplugging the wireless router and connecting it again should not have altered the wireless connection/configuration. You have connected the cables correctly because the Internet works when you connect a LAN cable to the router.
The Linksys wireless configuration or the wireless card configuration in the computer was changed it to lose the wireless connection. The wireless card configuration needs to be changed to match the wireless router's settings or change the Linksys with new configuration settings and configure the wireless card accordingly.
