After you do the hard shutdown, reboot and do another normal shutdown. Go to the power control in the control panel and ensure that the response to shutting the lid does not shut the pc off. You can shut off the display when closing the lid.. that's good for it. Having it shut the PC off is not.
coupla things about laptops.... turn-off when not in use, provide plenty of ventilation when running and do not leave plugged in all the time. These things will burn out the power supply system or battery.

You can shut it down hard (by holding the power button until it shuts off), wait at least 10 seconds (for your hard drive to stop spinning) then start it up and then try shutting down windows normally instead of just closing the laptop's lid. You can then go into user accounts and delete all accept for your Administrative account (even Guest account), and see if that cures your ills.
Good Luck.

Change the settings on the program you are using to access the online email address. This is located on your laptop, it could be outlook, messenger, yahoo mail etc.

The Computer won't get to the Desktop Screen. It stops the process of logging in at a screen that shows a loading bar that keeps repeating.

You will need to either, re install the operating system or do a system restore. The latter is available on the F8 screen (press at computer start.)

Logging off

Does windows come up before it logs off? Are you able to see your desktop? When does it keep logging off? Is the logging off happening during the boot process?

I have PCG-8114L laptop. I just deprressed the white power button on the right 'hinge' of the laptop, and the power goes on momemntarily and the laptop powers off and the button reamins depressed....

Hi

It seems that the power button still pressed, and hanged on this state.

This means that the laptop won't open, so you need to make the button comes back to it's original state.
Try using a tool with sharp edge as a knife to get the button out

Please tell us your results
Good Luck

Not booting to desktop just logging off

I'm sorry, there's not enough information here to respond to.

Is the laptop not booting up to Windows? or is it in a perpetual state of "logging off"? If it's the latter, you may need to do a hard shutdown... press and hold the power button until it shuts off.

Then unplug it, pull the battery out and press and hold the power button for 30 seconds, release and press again for 30 more seconds. This will remove any residual power inside the system.
Plug it back in and turn it on.
Did it help?

Sincerely,
Mark

Hi, I have an Asus PRO50G laptop. Last night I shut it down before going to bed and assumed that it had shut down successfully, but when I awoke I found that the laptop had run itself out of battery while...

Since the battery totally ran out, hence, now you require to charge it back up kindly do not try to switch on your laptop any more unless you have left it on charger for a minimum of 8 hrs. In case even after charging for 8 hrs it is doing the same thing i.e. logging off then, press f8 key while booting up and from the selection select last good known configuration and hit enter. That will fix everything. In few cases it's also f10 button hence try both f8 and f10.

Computer loading up but not logging on..

This has happened because of a Microsoft update:

In Safe mode (F8 at boot up)
Start-search for cmd
With search result -cmd- right click choose option Run as Administrator
type in- net user administrator/ active:yes
type- exit
restart- pc logon screen should show administrator account
if you can logon through this account, alter any accounts you want through control panel
