Dear produceqa_de,

I am not entirely familliar with this particular model, although in some similar models that I have worked on The epc (on deisel models) usualy indicates a problem with the particle filter.

This means that if your car has a particle filter and it has not reached a temperature that it can clean itself for a few months, it may become clogged and cause a restriction for the engine.

If you take your car to an audi dealer the mechanic will be able to do a quick test to confirm and he may then be able to overide the cleaning process and clean the filter. I would advise that this is done asap as dammage may be caused from very high exhaust temperatures.

Reguards Luke.

Hi,

I'm Ben and -- hopefully -- I can provide some meaningful assistance.

I recommend that you get a free diagnostic scan at your closest AutoZone. It's not as comprehensive as the $105 scan that you can get at an authorized dealer but it's an intelligent starting point.

Let me point out two possibilities that mirror your symptoms but may be completely unrelated but can be eliminated by a free diagnostic scan:

  1. The Engine Control Module (ECM) can fail causing stalling, and engine and transmission drivability concerns.
  2. The torque converter clutch can stick "on" after extended freeway driving causing the engine to stall when coming to a stop. In my experience when this occurs, the engine usually will restart and stall when put into gear. After allowing about twenty minutes for the engine and transmission to cool down, the engine will start and the transmission will operate normally. Replacing the torque converter clutch solenoid, transmission filter, and fluid will generally correct this issue.

2002 audi a4 doesnt move while its in drive

What oil got changed? Engine oil? Trans. fluid? How long have you had the car since the output shaft seal was changed? What codes do you have coming from the TCM?
Improper fluid levels or incorrect fluid type will cause severe problems with these units.

2002 audi a4 1.8t heat problem.

most likely a air bubble in your system. get it up to temp open up your reservoir use something that will fit in the opening and put coolant into it rev engine up a bit until you see bubbles coming up. when you did the engine did you replace cooling system parts like t-stat or water pump? purging the system of air will take a little while good luck hope that helps

1.car stalls out when you put it in gear, mainly reverse. 2.jerks and stalls when starting forward..A4..1.8T 2002 audi 1.8 turbo L4 FI 20V 112,000 miles

Sounds like your TCC (torque converter clutch) solenoid is causing improper lockup, causing the engine to stall. It works similar to putting your hand on a ceiling fan to stop the blades. I believe this is where you will find your problem.

Good Luck!

2002 sequioa sudden stall

Often when the battery is disconnected or replaced the computer will lose it's learned idle settings. You could try letting the engine idle in park until the engine temperature comes up to normal and leave it like that for a few minutes, then put the Air con on and let it idle again for a few minutes, then switch the air con off and put it into drive. If it does not stall, let it idle in drive for 2 minutes or so, and then do the same with the Air con on. This should relearn the base idle settings and stop it from stalling on you. Before you carry out this procedure you should make sure that when you replaced the battery you didn't remove any other plugs or knocked anything that may be causing the fault. If you try this procedure and it still stall when you select drive, you will need to get a Mechanic to check the vehicle over.

Hope this helps,
Mark.

Car starts, drive a mile, stalls.

try haviing your alternator checked advance auto parts can check it while its on the car and the can check the battery too. if thats not it it may stall due to a loose battery connection or a loose ground strap. if it stalls and everything turns of (electrical) it may be a connection or ground strap.
