I bought replacement black toner cartridge for CLP300. Tried to install it and got invalid cartridge message. checked cartridge and the replacement cartridge has 4 gold contact points whereas all four original cartridges only have a hole. thought the problem was because I bought the GENUINE cartridge from the USA via Ebay so ordered another one from the suppliers in Greece I bought the printer from in Dec 2008. SAME problem. I have now spent 100 Euros and still can't print anything.

The only way to reset it it to buy oem cartridges because it only lets you use the starter tanks once, after that they must have chips

You can also refill them and add 3rd party reset chips. On original unchipped cartridges when sticking the new chips to the square insert ..make sure you add enough padding so that the new chip makes contact with the pins. This is only an issue for the original unchipped cartridges. On previously chipped cartridges its not a problem as you stick the new chip ontop of the old and the added height makes the new chip makes good contact with the pins.

How can I reset the counter on a Samsung clp-415n

Laser printer counters are stored in the EEPROM on the printer. The only way to reset the counter is to change the EEPROM, usually by changing the logic board. The only reason I can see for resetting the counter is the same as clocking a car (to change the number of miles travelled displayed) in order to command a higher price on resale.

How to Reset counter of Image Unit CLP 300

Well it is a tricky operation, because you have to put some screws off the back of the printer and make a short circuit. The safest way to do this is to take to a professional workshop.

How to reset printer counter samsung CLP300

There are two major counters in this samsung CLP300 color laser printer.

I will give you the answers for both.

The standard one is the page printed counter.
You can not change that
The only way is to change the system board or get an used printer
(AS LOW AS $80 now!) and swap it.

The other set of counters are the toner counters.

eBay seller tpstock6898s.gifhas them
Set of Samsung CLP 300/CLX 3160FN reset Chips
eBay Item number: 260468470362

You can pick up the whole 4 chips set to reset the data to the printer for under $10.

Please post more information on what you like to reset.

I will follow up on this post.

The red light has come on to replace the ink cartridg, i only use black ink then i tried to reset and the red light is still on and it will not print. the colour cartridges are about 3 years old???????...

Check status monitor? See difference of chip reach ink out and not recognized. Reset chip that ink level reach ink out. Also check chip connector at ink tank and at chip itself. Plug ink tank securely. Check status monitor again. If still not resolved, try to use anither chip.

Epson stylus PHOTO R350 Repeatedly indicates 'out of ink' for all colours despite replacement and nil or minimin subsequent use----am extremely frustrated by this, am consideriing buying new...

Out of ink for all colours? If you don't use CISS, are the replacement ink tank new? Chip in ink tank stored ink level counter. If it reach zero, chip can't use. Check chip contact at ink tank, and chip connector at head carriage. Don't be frustated, man. I have thousands experiences like that. Two unsolved, that board is burning. If, chip conector is clean, use chip that no reach zero level. Good luck.

Toner and Imaging Unit issues

If this IS a CLP-510, first make an information confirmation print.
Press MENU, then press ENTER, and ENTER again.

Look at the counter for the imaging unit, is it a low count confirming that you have indeed replaced it ?
If not you will need to reset the counter.

Check the counters for the toner cartridges, and check the capacity of the cartridge. On a CLP-510 the image counter for the toner is held on the chip on the cartridge (which also identifies the capacity of the cartridge).

There have been some faulty (oiginal Samsung chips), and of course re-manufactured cartridge chips could fail (many re-manufacturers don' test their cartridges before dispatch, they don't have the facility to do so without starting the count on the chip (or 'bowing' the reset fuse on a CLP-500 cartridge). VERY few re-manufacturers can test these cartridges without starting the count.

Sometimes the 'replace xxxxx toner' messages are caused by toner on the three contacts on the side of the cartridge, or their mating contacts inside the printer. Rarely, this can be caused by a faulty circuit board.

Samsung clp-510n printer

1 Could be toner on the contacts (inside the printer) that mate with the contacts on the cartrdige.

2 Are you sure they are 510 toners and not 500 ones ?? 510 toners have a chip that identifies the cartridge (Colour, Capacity) and maintains a count of the pages printed.
500 toners have a reset fuse that resets the toner counter in the printer, and a resitor that identifies the capacity

3 Are they new cartridges, remanufactured, or 'home refiled'.
if either of the later two, were the chips replaced ? - if not the cartridge still thinks it has printed its full life of pages.
