When you boot up the computer press f10 - this will take you into the bios. press the right arrow and go to advanced (i think thats what its called - its the furthest right tab) there should be an option there to enable fn and ctrl switch.
All thats happened is that the ctrl has switched places with the fn key - its little like using an american keyboard in england and the @ and the " switching places.

f n key may have dust under cover or may just not making the connection ;you can prize key covers off to reveal button switch.try button without cover on then replace cover by placing on an pressing down firmly. It could of course be the key has ceased to work due wear and tear.also if you have user manual it will tell you how to access and activate num keys for ur model.if you havnt got a user manual you can download one of net with little effort.

I do not have Prt Scr on my laptop, is a HP G61. I tried Fn+ Ins but it doesn`t work. Can you help me ? Thanks

There are two Home keys.

Go to the Home button to the right, of the Delete key.
(Which is to the right of the Insert/Scroll key)

Has prt scr under Home.
Also use Fn key.

(I just used the Zoom In feature. You just set your mouse cursor in the middle of the photo, then move mouse cursor around)

Is there a print screen key on my compaq laptop?

Yor notebook has Print Screen key. I would like to share that, to copy screen using you may need to follow the below steps:

1. Press Prt Sc key in combination with Fn key(Fn + Prt Sc).
2. Open the Paint program. On the edit tab, select paste.

For your convenience I am providing the hints to make the image smaller, press control w, and change the top two resize boxes to 80% in both the horizontal and the vertical box. Hit enter. This will resize the image to a size that is convenient to use for email attachments or as inserts in document projects.

I am sure that the above information helps. If you need any further assistance or clarifications, please feel free to reply to this mail. We would be delighted to assist you. I would like to share that, to copy screen using you may need to follow the below steps:

Hp compaq nc6000

This is the service manual for your laptop....
If you hold down the Fn key....lower left on keyboard., and look at the top of the keyboard and look for the "F" key that has the symbol of the sun or a light on it, that is the "function" key and when you hold down the Fn key tap the appropriate function key and that changes the value of what you want.

You need to press the Function and Insert button at the same time. Then it will be on you clipboard.you have to copy and paste. MS paint is a good one.. Try that one...Top right of your keyboard.INSERT and Bottom right FN = Function

I hope that works for you.... Please let me know

Computer bios

Most systems today you can enter the BIOS with pressing F2 at boot. Some use F1, F10 or Del to enter setup (It should be on the screen at boot which key to enter setup) Once in BIOS navigate to the wireless device and see if it is Enabled

You can also look at the Function Keys, as most portables have a Fn + functin key combination to enable wireless (look for a radio tower Icon on a Fn Key, With Dell it is Fn+F2 not sure on HPs)

Hold down the Fn key while pressing those keys. Or turn on the Num Lock and you don't have to hold down the Fn key.

FUNCTION KEY:(

You didn't state which Operating System you are running, so if Windoze Vista is your OS, this is a known issue and I'm sure that Asus support/download site will have an updated driver for you soon. If not? let us know if you made any hardware changes or installed any software before this issue occurred? If so, you might want to try to remove them and see if that gets your function keys working again.
Good Luck.
