Question about Computers & Internet
I'm new to exchange server. I have server already running ms Exchange 2003 etrps. Etd. With windows server 2003 eptn. Etd. This server have losts of error coming on this VERITAS backup also not working cant take proper backup. I'm installing new exchange server 2003 in other machine I would like to know how I can copy exiting user's mailboxes and public folders to newly installed exchange server. Although existing one cant working properly cant take backup please advise.
My new exchange server with in the organization what exactly I need I want to bring up newly installed exchange with same name as old server (server-mail) and want to discontinued old server use. Please advise the entire step how I can brink up new server with same name and how can I move all mail boxes and all other public folders without any difficulty. Really appreciate you response
First things First!
1) you always going to have problems with exchange servers, or migrations. ** systems are not perfects**
2) You can migrate the emails to the new server, but, if only are in the correct version of Exchange 2003.
3) if backup is damage or fail, you lost everything.
4) try to reinstall the Server, and all utilites, is better, I know takes more time, but is better because you created yourself.
I suggest you to install from scratch!

SOURCE: New to Exchange Server 2003
You can not have 2 exchange servers with the same name in your exchange organization. However, you can actually setup a new box and move all your mailboxes, public folders, address lists and everything to it and then decommission the older one. But, if you want to setup a new box just for the reason that the backup software isnt backing up anything and the server has lots of errors in the event log then setting up a new server isnt a good idea i guess. Paste your errors in here may someone would definitely help you with your problem.
Still, if you want to decommision the old box you can refer the KB http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822931 and if you do not understand anything out there you can also take a look at http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Removing-First-Exchange-2003-Server-Part1.html

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
