Question about Televison & Video

Telly turns itself off

Our Samsung CW21A 113V telly switches itself off completely after varying amounts of time. Sometimes it lasts for about an hour, sometimes less. When it turns itself off we have to go to the telly, switch it off and back on again. First I thought it is due to overheating, but I doubt it that it can overheat in about 10mins. That problem started about 2 months ago and for some reason sometimes it works better than at other times and when you switched it back on about 10 times it stays on (nothing to do with the room temperature). It's not an old telly, too, maybe about 2 years and it is well annoying.

Hi there!
Have you checked for loose connection on the mains plug wires or perhaps a faulty mains adaptor. Otherwise it can be dry joints in the power supply or perhaps capacitors which have failed. If not sure refer to a repairer. Good Luck,JUS004

Lcd tv light flashing but no picture or sound

If you removed power by turning off power itself to the set instead of turning it off by turning the set itself off---that is not a good thing to do.

When power is restored a surge can and likely hit the power supply in your set---time for a tech or shop to open it---I suspect they will find the standby or main power supply is damaged or now bad.

Could osmeone please tlel me how to switch to AV without the remote?

Hi, without the remote its impossible the only thing you can try is switch the telly on but leave the other device plugged into the av socket off at the mains then with the telly on switch the other device on and turn it on, your telly may then change to the av channel on its own, if it dont then the only option you have is to buy one of those all for one remotes as these will operate it and let you choose the av channels, these remotes can be brought for next to nothing so that is your best option.

let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

plz rate this solution as i have a whole page of unrated posts, thanks

Video input

Hi the only slight chancer you have of doing this without the remote and this will only work with some tellys is to have the telly switched on then the device you have connected to the video input have this switched off at the wall then with the telly on switch the device on your trying to get the telly to pick up now some tellys will pick up the signal and go to that input channel, if how ever this dont work your going to need to go out and buy an all in 1 remote, these remotes cost next to nothing to buy you can get them off the well known auction site or from your nearest cheap shop such as discount stores that sell goods for next to nothing these remotes will work on all tellys and would solve your problem if the way i told you dont work.

Im sorry their is no easy way to get it to change but without the remote your pretty much stuck unless on the telly you have a button that looks like a square with an arrow running from left to right if you have this button then pressing this wil change the input source for you, if you dont have this then the only option would be an all 4 1 remote.

let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

What channel or setting(s)must I select to play a DVD from my DVD player onto the TV? It worked before, but I forgot how.(I lost my manual.) (Sony Trinitron KV-27HS420)

hi make sure the dvd player is switched on the on then make sure the leads are fitted correctly from the dvd player to the telly then get the telly remote and find the av button or the source button or a button with a small picture of a rectangle with an arrow running from left to right once you have found this button press it once then wait about 10 sec if you cant see the picture from the dvd press it again it all depends on how many inputs the telly has to how many times you may need to press it, if after doing this it still dont work then double check the leads and try again.

let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

Panasonic CT32SF wont turn on

Dont know spec of this model but if it has a CRT (glass tube) display rather than a LCD one, clicking at switch on is idicative of a power supply overload which, 99 times out of a hundred on a CRT telly is down to a fault in the power supply itself or the line output stage (the bit that generates the very high voltages in CRT tellys and also makes the picture scan left to right).
In short, not a DIY fix - take it to a repair shop.

Same Problem

Hi the problem you are having will be with the starter located on the circuit board where the power lead attatches to the telly thiss will have a thick black wire coming from this to the screen.

To replace this you will need special equipment and i wouldnt advise doing it yourself as the telly is still live up to 2 days after it is unplugged from the mains.
As for the cost of the repair you will find it cheaper to buy a new telly as when the things go wrong like yours you tend to solve one problem after another so it would be best to replace the whole telly its just not worth repairing yourself.
If you wanted it repairing then goto a small repair shop as they are glad of the work and tend to charge alot less than bigger shops.

Please dont attempt this yourself unless you have been trained to read schematices.

Its not worth electricuting yourself by removing the case as their is no easy fix to this problem this is a common problem with all tellys of your type this happens to them all after a certain time so its not just your telly ive had it happen 3 times.

The first time i done the repair as i have been trained to do this type of work but i found i just kept getting problem after problem so the next 2 tellys that went wrong i just scrapped it really is not worth doing.

Sorry i couldnt give you good news hopefully you wont give me a bad rating but if their was a way to solve your problem i would advise you on it but their is no easy fix. sorry
