Check the preamp Coupling Capacitor, which might have lost its value, or might have leaky dielectric.

Do you have a schematic for Pioneer VSX-37TX?

I don't have a schematic for this model but you can listen when the problem starts and you can isolate it by using a can of freeze spray into the amplifier section when the noise disappears try heating the ares until the noise starts again until you zero in on the defective component .replace the defective component and you are all set.

The manual:

A powered subwoofer would get its Line Level input from the Subwoofer PreOut (page 14)
Pages 16-22 discuss speaker type, distance, levels settings

System turns on but only hear feedback fomr speakser no sound

do the headphones work?that means the pre amp is working.
the speaker protection is maybe activated from shorted wires on the back, there should be a click 5 to 7 seconds after turning it on.
that is the relay that connects the speakers.check the speaker a and b switch. people are not aware of this, but alot of amplifiers ADD the a and b speakers,to prevent too low an impedance from parallel wiring.unless there is 4 speakers,no sound.

Im trying to hook my pioneer vsx-d409 multi channel receiver to work with my new3 philips hdtv. it would not work please help

What isn't it doing - audio, video, both? What model is the TV. How are you trying to do it. Do you have the manual? The simplest hookup is to just have the a single RCA cable from "TO TV Monitor" to a Video In on the TV. Modifications may be required depending on what else you have for video sources and how they're attached.

Go here for it. Register and search for things, like vsx-d409...

Buzzing emitted by vsx-409

Could be the result of having DTS compatible equipment connected through the analog inputs on the VSX-409D. Noise and distortion will result as essentially the DTS signal is being played back undecoded. If this is the case you'll have to connect your LD or CD player through the digital connections (coax or optical) and set 'Signal Select' (button on front) to 'Digital'.

Pioneer VSX-D409 - Remote Control Problem Hello. I'm from Brazil and I have a 12 years old Pioneer VSX-D409 Receiver. My problem is related to the page 16 and 17 of the Owner's Manual. I'm trying to do the steps to Set up the surround mode, changing some settings and the type of connection I use to delivers sound to receiver, using optical cables. Well... I just cannot enter this mode, the surround setting mode. At this moment I'm hearing the sound from a FM station on the speakers. But just this function works. Tuner, wiht FM station. The remote control works only to: - Turn on or off the receiver. - Change the volume level. - Set the loudness function (on or off). - Change the function of the receiver (to select Tuner, DVD, TV or other device in, but I don't gain access to change some specs like distance, speakers volume levels or type of connection of each device). And nothing more. The remote control has seven buttons on the top: DVD/LD, TV/SAT, VCR/DVR, CD, TUNER, CD-R/TAPE/MD and TV CONT. According to the source device you want to use, you just press the button and the receiver selects the IN connection (coaxial or optical or just the Tuner to listen FM stations) and reproduces the audio. Until last week, anytime I press this button, the source device was selected. But, of course, I didn't use all of them. Just two: TV SAT and DVD. Why? This receiver has two optical IN units on its backside. I have two optical cables connected in the receiver. Optical 1 is connected to a PS3 and Optical 2 is connected to a SmarTV. Before my hollyday's trip, all the connections were allright. But not today!! The problem is: I do not have access to the process to change the type of connection that is assigned to the device I've choosen. I want to do this: TV/SAT --> OPT1 (to the audio from PS3); DVD --> OPT2 (to the audio from Smartv); The process is described at the page 16 to 21 of the owner's manual. But, it doesn't starts. Seems my remote control just forgeted how to do this or is blocked in another function. I don't know how to fix it and need some tip or help. Thank You! :)
