Question about Canon PIXMA MP780 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Printer prints top 1" of page, then just spits out blank pages

I am no longer able to print anything from the computer (using WinXP, Canon MP780). The printer will print about the first inch of the page, and then the rest of the page is just blank. What's worse, is that it continues to spit out blank pages until I manually cancel the printing. I tried uninstalling the drivers, rebooting and reinstalling but that didn't help. I can print nozzle check and head alignment pages just fine. Copy, scan and fax appears to work fine as well. ''Print Test page'' or any page printed from the computer does not. Can someone out there rescue a damsel in distress?

Thank you!

Update on this problem: I was able to install and get a good print off this MP780 when I connected to a different computer. So, now the question is - assuming it's a software problem with the first computer, how do I get the software to work right? I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver, but no luck.

I tried the steps here, but no matter which driver I used (on the CD, or downloaded via canon's site) made any difference. I still get the same 1 inch printed at top, and the rest of the page is blank.

I had this problem printing out photos with my ix6520. Ended up the resolution was wayyyyy too high on the photo, like 16439 PPI and I lowered it to 300 PPI and it then printed just fine. Probably wasted some ink not knowing it sooner, definitely wasted some time.

If the printer works ok on another PC, it seems quite clear that the problem is definately software (Driver) related. If you haven't done so already, I recommend adding the printer through the Printer\Faxes Add Printer Wizard and pointing it to take the drivers off the install CD (if you have one) rather than installing the printer from the CD Autorun. Just make sure that you've deleted the printer completely from Printers\Faxes and rebooted before each install attempt.

I hope this helps!

Cheers,

My HP Photosmart printer was printing just fine until I had to change ink cartridges. Now it won't print anything, it just spits out a blank page.

Sometimes your printer print blanks pages, if your printer is out of ink. You can check the quantity of ink in the status of the printer. Sometimes, your printer displays messages if it is out of ink. So if you are facing such issues, you need to refill the ink in your printer. Communication problem with the printer and computer is also a reason for printing blank pages.

Many printers require you to print a test page and go through a process to align the new cartridge. If you haven't done this I would suggest this as your first step. This will confirm if the printer is working.

If still no joy, disconnect printer from computer, uninstall it then reinstall it. Can often save hours of messing using this method.

Kyocera 3900 dn, is there a way to speed it up?

1.install the latest print driver; see if the rip/spool time is long or the printing time is long. The rip time depends by your computer (!) and the print driver (disable the collate option when printing multiple copies of 1 page = on the printer you should see 1/5 spit a page then 2/5 and spit another page for 5 copies of same page. If you see processing the spit the page then processing and spit the page means your computer is sending 5 times the same page instead of sending once and ask for 5 copies !!! )
2.use network connection instead the USB.
3.expand the printer memory
4.switch the printer from PCL to KPDL or Auto when printing pdf files.

try this

> unplug the usb cable from the computer
> click on "start--> control panel--> printers and faxes"
> select the printer icon associated with your printer and delete it.
> now plug the usb cable to the printer
> wait for few minutes while all the drivers are installed.

HP LaserJet 3550 spits out blank paper when job sent from computer but prints fine when printing directly from printer

Try connecting the printer via the USB port on either one of the computers. Then test if the machine prints fine then likely possibility is that the Network interface card is faulty remove the network card and install in a different slot and test. If the same thing happens then reinstall the drivers and test.

Hope this helps

Printer isprinting blank pages

Maybe your mp 460 printer is doing the same thing mine is. My problem is that when I try to print from the computer, the printer wants to copy instead, so a blank page comes out. I don't have a solution suggested yet. Jayceedee
