Issues with ss4100 and Linksys N-ultra

I've been using my SpeedStream 4100 modem from AT&T/SBC DSL for over 2 yrs now with a wired connection to a D-LINK router, but recently decided to go wireless with my 2 desktops (WinXP). I'm on my 3rd wireless Linksys router in 3 weeks because I thought they were faulty. Now I have the N-ultra, 1st computer (older) is directly wired to the router, 2nd computer is wireless using a Netgear adapter (because the linksys i bought had issues with signals).

The same problem persists since day 1: at least once a day I get disconnected from the internet after several hours of surfing the net. I've talked to Linksys who only says to turn off the modem and router and restart them, they've changed my IP address, and my channels, and who knows what else. I contacted AT&T who had me bridge my modem yesterday and set the router to PPPoE, but yet again I was disconnected. Any time I try to "repair the connection" i get a message saying it cannot renew my IP address.

i thought maybe the problem also may lay in the fact that the 1st computer (4-5 yrs) is the one connected to the router since it is centrally located in the house, and i have the ethernet connected thru a USB adaptor instead of directly into the ethernet plug on the computer (been this way for a year, don't know whats wrong with the ethernet connection in the tower)

this is a daily ritual and I don't wanna deal with it, I'd rather have cords running down the hallway =( but would REALLY appreciate any help whatsoever, because my last day to return the merchandise is coming up this week!

Can someone please help me? hopefully you can save me from another day of issues!
thanks so much in advance.

Beacon Interval: 25
Fragmentation Threshold: 2304
RTS Threshold: 2304

usually the DSL would turn on if DSL connection is established. if you already replaced the modem. then your old modem might already be bad.

Speedstream 4100 does not work with router

you can't.
when the item name as modem/router. it means the main function is modem with added router function.
you can't connect 2 router/modem together. both need access to the internet and IPS for it function correctly.
however, you can connect 1 modem and one router.

4100 Light flash no connection

*if the DSL light on your modem is blinking..
TRY: using different filters// check physical connection
IF: not resolved call ISP for a trouble ticket for their line department
*if all the lights constantly blinks
DO: purchase new modem, maybe deffective already or check if modem still under warranty so provider can replace it

NOTE: plug 4100 modem directly to the back of the computer tower without the linksys router and check if light status still the same...
HOW: cable connected from back of modem shud be plug in directly to port at the back of PC tower.. completly remove linksys and turn linksys off..

I have Centurytel myself, so maybe I can help:

A link to your Speedstream 5100 router:

http://www2.windstream.net/downloads/links/SpeedStream211.pdf

And the typical setup for the westell 6100 that centurytel uses:

Centurytel will provide you with your username and password.

PPPoE Configuration:
VPI 8
VCI 35
Protocol: PPPoE

Hope this helps.

"fail: Test ADSL Line Sync" per AT&T Tech Readout

hi,there are a lot of possibilities y ur dsl light wont stop flashing red, 1.could be hardware failure,2.defective lead light for dsl,3.or line issue on the network...i strongly recommend that you contact your isp or att provider so that test would be done by their tech support,...basically you have checkd all inside wirings n as you have said you even tested the nid already...have you tried changing the dsl cable or phone cable? have you tried using another modem? were you using a filter for your dsl? you have to consider also other emi/rfi or electronic interference....but most probably you might try upgrading your modem n see if your gonna get a steady dsl light...the ethernet plugs has no effect on the dsl light...its just the cable connection or line issue or defective modem...i hope this will help, pls feel free to ask if you need further astnce...
