Question about D-Link AirPlus DI-524 Wireless Router

Cannot connect to internet through DI-524

Hello Everybody,

I used to connect to internet through DI-524. But recently I am unable to connect through it but if i connect the cable which comes directly from the DSL modem to my pc the internet works. What is the solution to this problem? I am unable to solve this. Temporary i have connected my net connection directly to my pc and through another lan card i am sharing the net to other computers.

    i plugged in the dsl cord to the di-524 in the wan slot and another cord from slot # 1 to my laptop but nothin and i want to go around the house and use it but it wount coneect to the internet

    Yup !!! I have the same problem. I have booted the modem repeatedly over the past 1 1/2 days. Same issue.

    The WAN LED (light) flashes quickly. I understand from the D-Link site that this means the modem and router are / can not talk.

    I replaced the DI-524 router with a D-Link WBR 1310. It does the exact same thing; quickly flashing WAN LED. I tried this modem out at another house and it worked.

    NOTE: A slow flash means there is traffic. A Quick flash indicates problem. Steady on is for connection.

    My ISP (after a couple of hours on the phone) decided I needed to call the manufacturer and get instructions on bridging the two. Ya, riiight !!!

    I don't know the make of modem as it is supplied by the ISP.

    I am currently connected directly from modem to a computer. Not the way we want to live.

    Router cuts out ~ once a month.  Used to be able to reconnect.  Must connect modem directly to computer in order to get internet service.  Can not use wireless. THis router is ****.

    i can connect to internet for 2 or 3 minutes -- then it stops working. i have to connect directly to modem to connect again.

    I lost my internet connection today, but my Ethernet light was on. Called ISP, they had me reroute the Eth. cable to the modem and change the connection configuration. That worked.
    I then went back and configured my Dl-524 again, changed the connection config back to bridged Ethernet, and turned everything off and on again. Still no connection when connected thru my router, but modem connection works fine.
    What's the life span of routers? Can they just stop working, or might there be some other problem?

    I have the same problem. It seems like the router doesn't allow my internet through, unless I reconnect the Ethernet back into my modem. I have an installation CD, but the internet can never get through, so the connection test always fails. I use a surfboard broadband modem.

    Hey there,



    My first question is what if anything has changed between the time it was working and now, configuration, cabling, etc? Secondly (these may sound dumb but I have to ask) have you rebooted the router and or have you tried to reset it back to factory defaults?

Try this exactly as written.

Disconnect ALL cables from the modem and router: internet cable, power, and ethernet. At your option you can leave the computers on but if this doesn't work the first time, try it with the computers off.

Connect the modem, cable, ethernet, and power. Wait until modem has botted up.

Connect power on router,
then ethernet from modem,
then one by one connect the computer ethernet lines to the router.

If necessary, turn of your computers.

If this doesn't work, get religion and start praying.

After you've rebooted your wireless router...make sure you reboot the cable-company (or DSL) modem while the router is connected to it and on. The modem seems to recognize the router properly only in this way.

Simply unplug the power to the cable-modem and plug it in again.
If the cable-modem has a battery back-up you'll want to remove that as well.

All you need to is to reboot your router everytime that there is no internet connection...
follow this instruction if you dont exactly how to do that:

1. type in 192.168.0.1 on your web browser
2. log in by typing your username and password..if you dont know your username and password just type in Admin in the username box and hit enter.
3.once your in,click on Tools.
4.click Misc.
5.and click Reboot.
6.wait for it to reboot.
7.Now check your internet connection.
8.If doesnt owrk,reboot your router again.(you might reboot 2 to 4 times)
9.if it still doesnt work, just "Buy" a new router

This product is discontinued i hear so maybe there is a problem with it cuz mine doesnt seem to work anymore either and everyone seems to have problems with it...

Okay this is wat i did its not the best solution but i recommed that you do it becuase of the simple fact it works....

step 1. find a small screw driver
step 2. unplug the router (power and data)
step 3 .unscrew the 2 screws at the back of the router
step 6 .take the cover off the router so you can see everthing on the inside
step 5. Leave to cool down
step 6 . plug everthing back into the router just leave it to start up (approxmently 2 min)
step 7. make sure that the nothing touchs the inside of the router

the reason for doing all this is because this wireless router overheats alot if it is used alot .... this should sovle all your problems (4 your info this may void your warrenty ... but at least it will work

Usually if this happens it means that you have either disabled your internet on your PC or the router and modem need to be restarted at exactly the same time. Hope this helped =)

I have router DI-524 and am unable to connect to internet thru this router. But it says, it is connected


I would do a hard reset by pushing the small button on the back. You will need a small pen to push it. Push and hold down button till the lights flash I would/ say 10-15 seconds should be good enough. Once it's reset try setting up all of your settings again. Remember if you have dsl you will need you username and password to be inputed in some cases. If it is broadband most likely you will not have to bother with username and pass hope this helps.

hello, make sure their is network subscription on the router, remove the wep. you can look at the back of the router and see if their is a reset button, reset the router if necessary.

Login in using your browser and go to the wireless settings and set-up a wireless password/key. Remember the key because each device will now need it to connect. You can also turn OFF Broadcast SSID and your network name will not be shown on anyone's device. You must remember the network name when using this method.

You do not need the disc. Using you browser, login into the router using the default IP 192.168.0.1 unless this has been changed and you should be able to configure your router.

Yes, that is possible for as long the DI524 is already properly setup and can provide already internet connection everything should be working fine there....

Configuring D-Link DI-524 router with airtel beetel 110bx1


Make sure you can go online directly to the airtel broadband. If internet works fine, connect the D-Link router to the Beetle. That should be going to the Internet port or WAN port of the D-link. Then your PC to port 1. Try to power cycle both devices now. Unplug the power to the router first then to the modem. Wait for 30 seconds. Power on modem first, wait for the lights to go solid, then power on the router. Check if the internet works fine hardwired. If it is, wireless should work as well. Just connect to the signal coming from the D-link.

Connecting a DI-524 to a DI-604


This shouldn't really be any problem simply use a short "Uplink" ethernet cable to join the routers thru the uplink port, or any port really, and that way ya should be able to wifi and access the net, set ya router that connects to the net for DCHP and disable that setting in the Wifi router and ya should be good to go?

DI-524 wireless router as wireless switch


You need to disable the DHCP server on your "slave" wireless router ( the di-524 ). In D-link routers this might be called configuring it to be an "Access point".

When this happens, connecting to the second wireless router should cause your computer to obtain an IP address which is in the range of the first router (that is to say, it will use the first router's dhcp server).

You should be able have your laptop connect with an automatic IP address and have it work.

I am assuming that you have a functional LAN cable connecting the Westell and the DI 524, right? If you are unsure, replace it with a cable you know is good.

If the 524 is turned on downstream of the Westell modem, it should find what it wants. You may try rebooting the Westell and seeing if the 524 finds it, and you maybe should reboot the 524.

Sometimes, when the world gets jiggered up I have to work pretty hard to get my DI-524 resync'd to my DSL modem.
