Panasonic SA-AK57 problem

I've already gotten a response to this. I'm not saying he's wrong but i would like a second opinion. I get a huge BANG!! out of my SA-AK57 mini-system then it shuts off with an F61 error. It happens only when the unit is first turned on, after the bang happens i can turn it up as loud as i want cause i know it won't happen again, untill the unit rests for a while. sometimes i get a slightly softer bang and it doesn't turn off....i'm pretty sure one day its just gonna not work. I really love this thing awesome sound, really loud and clear...I'm hoping that the fix isn't too much money

Hi,
This sounds like a power disconnection problem.
you have a large amount of components, on the motherboard that charge up with being used. ( namely fets/capacitors et,c ) when your system is powering off the instant disconnection of mains power, can cause a Bang or Pop to the speakers.
I,d suggest trying swapping the speakers over from right to left and vice versa. see if the errors still there.
Also try turning the volume right the way down, before switching off. is the bang quieter ?
Check the mains cable ( plug end ) see if theres a broken or loose wire at the plu ( causing an arc ) finally check that the plug ( cable grip ) plastic tang that holds the cable, has,nt been overtightened and damaged the cable underneath it.
I hope any of this helps you to a self diagnostic rectification of the problem listed. Also try without speakers is a suggestion.

The primary amplifier ic is on it's way out.
you will need to replace that and the regulators for it too.

Just wondering if there is any way to hook an iPod (actually my iPhone 3GS) to my stereo (SA-AK57) somehow to play my songs??

only in stereo, there is not digital interface for this sound system, you need a 3.5mm jack to RCA lead (Head phone connector on end and a red and white phono connectors on the other) these connect to the Aux 1 or Aux 2 inputs on the rear of your stereo.

Panasonic SA-AK57 alignment of CD tray and disc changer

There is a particular procedure for rebuilding these units that must be followed to insure proper alignment. This procedure is available to authorized service centers only (as far as I know). Your only alternative is to purchase the service manual that contains this procedure from Panasonic.

House already wired up for wall speakers (2 wires) BUT

Hi...
The 4 wires are 2 for the treble/midrange 2 for the bass.
You can tie the wires in parallel ( one wire from one pair to another in the other pair and repeat) but you need to know how many "ohms" the stereo can handle.
Should say on the back of the rack system

Sa-pm29 cd-changer jammed

The loading mechanism needs to be rebuilt. There is also an engineering change that should be applied to this unit if it hasn't had the mod already. This is not a home repair. This unit should go to an authorized Panasonic service center.

Panasonic SA-AK57

The optics assembly is not detecting the disk. Sometimes this is due to the lens being dirty. These units are not the easiest to work on with out either experience or the manual. I would suggest that you invest in a service call to have the optics checked.
