You must have a network setup first

Then both the machines must be in the same subnet

for example PC 1 - 192.168.54.1 255.255.255.0
PC2-192.168.54.2 255.255.255.0

Both should be in the same work group  just click on properties in mycomputer to set a work group name this should be same on both machines

Now share your directories using sharing wizard

Good Luck

How to adjust or can increase internet speed

If you are using Windows XP Professional then it is possible to squeeze an extra 20% out of your internet connection. By default Windows XP Pro holds back 20% of your Internet speed for various services like windows update and spyware checks.
If you want to tap into this locked speed then make the following changes: • Go to Start-> Run-> and type gpedit.msc • Expand the Administrative Templates branch • Expand the Network tab • Highlight QoS Packet Scheduler • Click on Limit Reservable Bandwidth and check the 'enabled' box • Then Change the Bandwidth limit % to 0 % Once you've done this click apply and restart your PC. After rebooting you will amaze a noticeable improvement in your net speed. goodluck....

Is there a workaround / driver for Win7 for this product?

Try installing the Driver in "XP SP2 Compatabiluty Mode" This may indeed work.
Download your XP driver you wish to install. If it's in a zip/rar file then extract it to your desktop.
You should have a simple .exe file sitting on your desktop to install the drivers, as normal for XP.
Right click the .exe file and select "Properties".
Then select the tab called "Compatibility"
Now check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
Make sure "Windows XP Service Pack 2" is highlighted.
Now apply the settings and run the installer.

This should work for most drivers, but not all

Computer connection

All you need is a network hub, switch, or router to get both communicating. Windows Media Player 11 (Comes with Windows) does all the legwork on the computer side.

Internet sharing

Hi, Could be done. On the Dell XP - 1. Activate your Internet Connection Sharing. Go to Control Panel, Click on Network Connections, right click on your Local Area Connection, Properties, Advanced tab, check Allow other network users to connect through this computer's internet connection. In Home networking connection, choose "Local Area Connection", OK; 2. Back to General settings, click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), click on Properties, tick Use the following IP address: IP address 192.168.0.1, Subnet mask 255.255.255.0, Default gateway 192.168.0.1, if you know ITT DNS use them otherwise tick "Obtain DNS server address automatically." You have to connect the DellXP with the DellVista using a crossover networking cable. On the Dell Vista- 1. In your Network Connections, right click on your Local Area Connection, Properties, click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), click on Properties, tick Use the following IP address: IP address 192.168.0.2, Subnet mask 255.255.255.0, Default gateway 192.168.0.1, if you know ITT DNS use them otherwise tick "Obtain DNS server address automatically." The above method will also work with peer to peer wireless networking. It might also facilitate connection if you enable auto-detect proxy settings in your browser. There are other methods. This is also better explained at Microsoft support Hope this be of help/idea. Post back how things turns up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards.
