Hate to tell you this but your lcd may be bad (or dirty internally)
If you still have warranty you should get it replaced.

If not you may be able to find a cheap lcd screen on ebay

Replacing lcd screen is not that hard. You may be able tp find the service manual for your laptop so it'll make things easier

Sony kv-32hs420 screen mode doesnt work

Display ratio usually is a setup choice but bear in mind that old movies and old TV programs will display in 4:3 ratio. Remotes usually have no control over screen size.

Troubleshooting Flat Panel Monitor issues.

Screen is blank and power indicator is off

The monitor is possibly not receiving power. Perform the following steps to fix the problem:
  1. Ensure that the electrical outlet and the monitor are both switched on.
  2. Check that the power cord is firmly plugged into the electrical outlet and the power supply unit.
  3. If the power cord has a removable fuse, replace it.
  4. Try another power cord.
  5. Try another electrical outlet.
  6. Check the power connection at the back of the panel.
Screen is blank and power indicator is steady green

Brightness and Contrast may be too low. Adjust the brightness and contrast using the On-screen display controls (OSD) by selecting the button
Screen is blank and power indicator is steady amber

The monitor is in the Power Management Standby state. The power management feature is invoked when the computer recognizes that you have not used your mouse or keyboard for a user-definable period. Perform the following steps to bring monitor out of the power management state:
  1. Press any key on the keyboard or move the mouse to restore operation.
  2. Check the Power Management software on your computer.
  3. flatpnlmont12.jpgPress the (OK) key to switch between analog and digital mode. If the panel is the wrong mode for the signal being provided, the monitor appears to go into sleep mode.
Screen is blank and power indicator is flashing green
Display mode of the computer is outside the range of the monitor. The display mode the monitor uses is controlled by your computer. Therefore, you should refer to your computer's documentation for details on how to change display modes.

The image size, position and shape may change when the display mode changes. This is normal and the image can be readjusted using the IMAGE SETUP and the monitor controls.

Note: Unlike CRT monitors, which requires a high refresh rate to minimize flicker, TFT technology is inherently flicker-free. If possible, configure your computer for 1600 x 1200 addressability at 60Hz vertical refresh rate.

Use the following table as a guideline and reconfigure your computer to use a supported display mode. The highest resolution (for example, 1600 x 1200) produces the optimal output, but limitations of your monitor may prohibit this setting. Adjust the addressability mode until an image appears.

CHECK SIGNAL CABLE" message is shown and power indicator is steady amber.

The monitor is not receiving a video signal. Perform the following steps to fix the problem:
  1. Check that the signal cable is firmly connected to your computer
  2. Check that no pins are bent in the signal cable connector.
There are noises in the video signal. The IMAGE SETUP function is used to adjust the level of noise in the video signal which causes horizontal lines or areas where the image appears to be unstable and jitters or shimmers. This can be done automatically or manually.
Note: It is not applicable to digital input.
Use the image setup fix the problem:
  1. flatpnlmont6.jpgSelect (Image Setup) menu in the OSD.

  2. Select Manual to adjust CLOCK/PHASE settings.
Image appears to be discolored

The color setting may be incorrect. Perform the following steps to adjust the color settings:
  1. flatpnlmont8.jpgSelect (Image Properties) from the OSD menu.
  2. flatpnlmont9.jpgSelect (Color Properties) to adjust the color mode you find most comfortable or fine tune the colors using the Custom menu.
A few dots are missing, discolored, or inappropriately lighted

A small number missing, discolored, or lighted dots may be present on the screen, which is an intrinsic characteristic of the TFT LCD technology and is not an LCD defect.
Using On-Screen display (OSD) controls
flatpnlmont12.jpgThe settings adjustable with the user controls are viewed through the OSD. Press the (OK) button to display the main OSD menu.
OSD main menu:

Note: The LCD monitor needs time to become thermally stable the first time you turn it on each day. Thus, to achieve more accurate adjustments for parameters, allow the LCD monitor to warm up (be on) for 15 minutes before making any screen adjustments

Cracked Iphone 4 screen with distorted messed up colors.

Hi Connor,
Since the iphone is dropped from 4 feet, there would have been a physical damage to the display. If the phone is still under warranty or Apple care protection, you could take the iphone to Verizon store and replace the internal display. If the iphone is out of warranty, they might charge you for replacing the display for the phone. :-)

Lines on screen

I was going to ask to define lines, but if you have lines (red, green or white) usually means the screen is dying.

Full lines across the screen (such as in the case of my wife's laptop) mean the screen is dead. In either case, replacing the LCD is in order.

Good luck
God Bless

Intermittent monitor outages with MPC Transport T1200? Should I replace monitor or check wiring and how? New-to-me laptop, upon powering on no picture was visible, could hear all normal sounds of...

Looking through your owners manual, there are several keyboard shortcuts that can at least increase the appearance, although it sounds like a simple connection problem. Very hard to find a repair manual, although most transport laptops have a very thin multiwire cable connecting the monitor to the keyboard. Sounds like that cable has one or more wires broken, or just possibly a bad connection where the cable connects to the mbd. If you have the expertise to disassemble and repair, those cables are available at many places like Fry's Electronics, however many are soldered in place and require quite a bit of technical expertise to replace. I would suggest doing some price shopping at some of your local repair shops. Here is what the manual says: Problem
Action
The display panel is blank when the system is turned on
  • Make sure the TransPort T1200 is not in the Standby or Hibernate suspend modes. The display is turned off to conserve energy in these modes.
The screen is difficult to read
  • The display resolution should at least be set to at least1024x768 for optimal viewing.
  1. Go to [Start > Settings > Control Panel] and double-click the Display icon.
  2. Under the Settings page, set screen resolution to at least 1024x768 and choose at least 256 colors.
The screen flickers
It is normal if the display flickers a few times during shutting down or powering up.
Nothing appears on the screen.
  • During operation, the screen may automatically turn off as a result of power management. Press any key to see if the screen comes back.
  • The brightness level might be too low. Increase brightness by pressing [Fn+F7].
  • The display output might be set to an external device. To switch the display back to the LCD, press [Fn+F5], or change the display through the settings in Display Properties.
The characters on the screen are dim.
Adjust the brightness and/or contrast.

Blue Vertical Line

It is sounding like when the laptop is turned on and heats up a bit, the line appears? Sounds like one of the panels is going bad or atleast has developed a problem. below are some tricks you can try to lessen the annoyance of the line. Dual-Scan STN displays are composed of 2 panels behind a single protective panel or screen. Because you are looking through the protective screen the display appears to be one large panel even though it is not. There is a physical separation line (gap) at the point where the two panels meet. When the computer is on and being viewed it is not unusual to see the visible separation line with the Dual-Scan STN displays. The line, actually the fine gap between the display panels, appears because the color and light pixels cannot run along the very outside edges of the panels. This line (gap) between the panels can be seen as a fine gray line and is most noticeable when viewing on a screen with a white or light background. Note the line may not be as noticeable when the screen is displaying certain colors or darker backgrounds. SUGGESTIONS: It is not possible to completely eliminate the line but there are some things you can try to reduce it's visibility. 1) Lower the display brightness/contrast. The brighter the backlight the more noticeable the line. 2) Use Wallpapers and Screen savers that use darker colors. 3) In the Control Panel/Display applet under appearance try different combinations of color schemes for your Window and Background choice Let me know what happens. Good Luck, Tim
