I have out standing bill with sprint and i tried to hook up my treo with a new account and they said that i had to pay off the bill first before i could transfer the phone to a new account under my friends credit is their any way around that

What service do you have? You can pay phone bills online and over the phone if you have a extra phone to use. You can google your phone provider to find their number or website. GOTO your service provider website sign into your account go to bills and payments and there should be a paynow button click on it and follow the prompts if you are happy with the security system in place if not GOTO contact page and phone them to process the bill that way
Some cell phone providers can place other holds on your account besides not paying on time. An example would be a monthly dollar amount limit. Check with your provider to make sure such is not the case.
