Question about Projection Televisions

1 Answer

Mitsubishi WS-55807 We just acquired this TV and got it to work -- sorta.. But the pit'cher sucks big time -- is in Black and White for the most part.. Last night, the first time we tried to hook it up and all, we got it this far.. Today we went to Best Buys and the guy there said it was definitely the single cable 'In' to the Dish box.. He said I needed these triple wires -- Red, Blue and Green and all would look good.. Well, I hooked these babies up but I'm not sure about Where I hooked them up or anything but it did nothing.. I hooked up another triple wire set I had previously for VCR hookup and mabye that did something right as we now have the sucky picture just like last night.. HELP!!!!! Please!!

Thank You so much for your quick response!!

No, I haven't bothered with the color yet.. I'm still trying to figure out the cable and/or setting problems.. The picture has black lines thru everything.. In other words, the 30+ ? lines of resolution have black lines between the 'normal' ones.. If, for instance, there were a white billboard on tv, you'd readily see the black lines going down the screen fast too.. Make sense??

    Thanx again, Rich

Easy now!! Your talking to a guy that doesn't know NTSC from PAL..

I'm in N. Nevada, USofA. TV was broken and given to me this week. $325.00 fixed it.. No, Dish box is not HD..

that almost sounds like a compatability issue (NTSC to PAL). where are you located (USA or other)? where did you purchase it from? is the Dish box an HD box?

have you adjusted the color in the video settings? use the remote press the video button until you reach color settings adjust with the curser buttons on the remote.

Ok, I had to ask, this sight is world wide and the formates of different countries are not compatible for instance the US uses NTSC and will soon change to ATSC while europe uses PAL formate. I could get into it further but we need not since your here in the US. the problem with the set is hard to determine this is not a simple hook up problem. it you receive this problem thru the cable input from the channel 3 of the tv we must issolate if the problem is from the dish box or the tv. 1st hook up a DVD player using the yellow, red, white cables to any input. does the picture improve? if so the dish box is at fault. if not the set has an internal problem.2nd from a blank input press menu is the colors of the menu ok? if it is then problem lies between the input section of the set and the Y/C jungle IC inside never the less you will need further repairs to the unit. send me a picture of the problem (send one with a blank input and one with a signal) treborj37@hotmail.com I will try to assist you further.

Stays on for 2 seconds and switches off

The convergence amplifiers need to be replaced.
This set may have one big amplfier chip rather than two.
The chip(s) will be on a big aluminum heatsink.
There may be bad resistors related to these chips, as well as one or two fuses that are open.
I've replace many convergence amplifiers.
If you have good soldering skills and ac test fuses and resistors, you can do the repair yourself. Caution that even with the set unplugged, there could still be dangerous voltages present on some components.
Search this site for specific convergence repair related to your set.

RGB picture guns ( CRT's ) are ok. Your set needs a common
convergence circuit overhaul requiring replacement of two IC's,
part # STK392-570. Usual cost about 400.00.........T.

Mitsubishi ws 55807 have the blinking lights problem and not powering on

Yes on some sets are a bit differant depending on the model number there is still a DM board. The disassembly is a bit different and the service manual will describe how to take apart the TV set to get to the DM board. The repair is the same for the DM board. I am sorry but I do not have the the service manual but one can be downloaded here: http://www.servicemanuals.net/results.aspx?type=SM&brand=0&model=WS55807 Good Luck
