Temporary loss of picture

There are lines at the bottom of the picture. The picture periodically shrinks to a single line. I hit the top of the tv and it comes back. What is the problem and about how much does it cost to fix?

Line at bottom of screen takes time to clear

if the line is horizontal and kind of rolls up the picture, or you get a dark picture at first, its probably a bad capacitor. there are 2 - 100uf 16v caps that go bad c2p05 and c2p08 on the signal board

if the picture just shrinks, it can be these caps bad, or maybe your pump up cap on the vertical IC

all parts are solder in

estimate = 100-200$

Vertical jitters on picture - JVC AV48P776

What you are experiancing is loss of High voltage. The line is called a retrace line. It is usally caused by failure of the flyback circuit or aging of the TV tube. This is the single most common failure with CRT based display systems. The high voltage can be tweaked up, to accomidate for the age of the tube. Its a short term solution. Because of the high voltage nature of this circuit, suggest a professional repair.

Toshiba Picture bouncing... becoming horizontal line

This sounds like a loose connection in the vertical circuit . The vertical IC would be the main suspect . These run somewhat warm and can the solder joints to expand and contract . Now what can also happen if you keep running it this way is the IC can become stressed out and finallly give out . Which will basicly give you one thin line side to side or some TV's when this part fails it will shut the tv down . Most shops depending if you can take it to them or if they have to make service the price will vary . Call around to a few local TV repair shops and get a rough estimate over the phone to what it might cost you . I would hope at best for a service it would not cost over $250.00 . Now if you can use a soldering iron you can save alot by soldering the loose connection yourself . Some experience would be required as some cabling straps would need to be loosened and plugs undone . Good luck and let me know how it turns out ( Team Tech )

HITACHI 53SBX59B, projection lights don't line up.

It sounds like bad solder connections in the convergence output circuit. It may also be an intermittant convergence output ic which will need to be replaced.

Toshiba 46HM95 46 tv

If the line is all that is showing with black on the top and bottom. This indicates a loss of vertical deflection which is caused by the loss of the veritcal sweepignal. Check the output of the vertical section of the TV set. You will need an oscilloscope, and multimeter along with a schematic.
