Yahoo Messenger 1) I log on to Yahoo Messenger 2) Click on a friends name to send a message. 3) The message window goes all the way across my computer screen. 4) I can send a message this way, but would like to get the message window back to normal size. 1- click on top of the window on the title bar, while holding your left mouse button...move the window to the left until you see the right bottom corner about 1 inch from the right corner.

2 - click on the right bottom corner to resize the window and drag it all the way to the left about an inch away from the edge.

3-repeat step 1 until the window is back to normal size

How to Video Chat with Friends on Oovoo?

1.Connect your camera to ooVoo. If your
device uses a camera that is attached via
a USB cord, you will need to connect it before
opening ooVoo.
2.Open ooVoo. Once you've downloaded
the app, you'll need to open it. If you're
using a phone or tablet, just navigate to your
home screen and click on the ooVoo icon. If
you're using a computer, you will find it in
whatever location you chose to download it
to (most likely your "Downloads" folder or
your desktop).
3.Accept the terms and conditions.
4Sign up or log in.
5.Search for your friends.
6.Check who's online. To see which of your
friends are online, look at the list on the
left side of your screen. The friends that have
a green circle beside their name are online.
7.Call one of your friends. Double click a
name, or click the video camera next to
it, to start a video chat with that person.
8.Add more friends to the conversation.
Click "Add to Call>Contacts." Scroll down
the list until you find the person you want to
add, and click "Add Friend." Again, they can
answer, reject, or start a text chat. You can
add up to 12 friends.

Operating on Windows XP. Family tree maker8 won't open

1.Requires it to be run in Windows XP Compatibility mode.
2.Ftm.exe is not signed aka doesn't have a publisher prompting user account controls in Windows 8. (Security issue)

Compatibility mode for FTM 2012 in Windows 8:
1.From desktop, right mouse click on FTM Icon on the taskbar
2.Hover over "Family Tree Maker 2012" and right mouse click again to get Properties
3.Click on Properties
4.Choose Compatibility tab
5.Under "Compatibility mode", check box "Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows XP (Service Pack 3)" Side note: after utilizing "Run compatibility troubleshooter" this is the resolution I got.
6.Click okay and test to see if program opens properly.

Note: due to the ftm.exe not having publisher info, each time I open file, I get security prompt to allow unknown publisher to make changes to my computer. Family Tree Maker must address this issue.

Tony;

You could restore they system when it was working fine, by using the 'System Restore' Tool that Microsoft provides in the OS.

To perform System Restore, you must be logged on to Windows as an administrator. If this is your personal computer, you are likely already logged on with an administrator account.

To use System Restore to restore Windows XP to a previous state, follow these steps:
  1. Log on to Windows as Administrator.
  2. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Restore. System Restore starts.
  3. On the Welcome to System Restore page, click Restore my computer to an earlier time (if it is not already selected), and then click Next.
  4. On the Select a Restore Point page, click the most recent system restore point (or the date you know when solitaire was working fine) in the On this list, click a restore point list, and then click Next.

Note A System Restore message may appear that lists configuration changes that System Restore will make. Click OK.
  5. On the Confirm Restore Point Selection page, click Next. System Restore restores the previous Windows configuration, and then restarts the computer.
  6. Log on to the computer as Administrator. The System Restore Restoration Complete page is displayed.
  7. Click OK.
If you successfully restored your computer to a previous state, and the computer is performing as it should be, you are finished.

I hope this helped! If you need further assistance on how this process is done I will be more then happy to walk you through. Just let me know.

Desktop hijacked at the time of starting

Do this in order...its worked for others that had similar messages on Startup...as long as your operating system is legit. Any time you deal with this type of work on the computer...know what your doing...altering your registry can have dire effects.

1. C:WindowsDownloaded Program Files
  • Within that folder, remove any files or folders associated with .WGA
2. Safe Mode
  • Reboot your computer and as soon as Windows logs off, start repeatedly tapping the F8 Key on your keyboard.
  • As soon as you see the Windows Advanced Startup options select Safe Mode within Safe Mode get yourself into these folders…
  • C:WindowsSystem32 (Rename wgatray.exe to wgatrayold.exe)
  • C:WindowsSystem32dllcache (Rename wgatray.exe to wgatrayold.exe)
Note: Dllcache is a hidden folder, to view hidden folders do the following, go to Start, Control Panel, Folder Options,
Select the view Tab and under the Hidden Files option, select Show hidden files and folders
3. Safe Mode Registry
  • Click on Start, Run and within the open dialog box type regedit and click OK.
  • Within the Registry Editor navigate your self to
    HKEY_Local_MachineSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsNTCurrentVersionWinlogonNotifyWGALOGON
  • Right Click and Export the WGALOGON Folder (this should be saved onto your machine for backup purposes)
  • After Exporting the folder, DELETE the WGALOGON folder
  • After deleting close all applications and Restart your machine back to Normal Mode
4. www.microsoft.com/genuine
  • Get into the site above and manually re-validate your copy of Windows.
